Glitter-Dipped Gift Tags

December 8, 2014 ~ 12 Comments

Brown paper packages tied up with string….

…truly are some of my favorite things!

The only way to improve upon them?  Combine them with some glittery kraft paper gift tags, and you have some gift wrap guaranteed to wow your recipient with their rustic glam goodness.

Glitter-Dipped Gift Tags | A simple way to add some rustic glam goodness to your brown paper packages this holiday season. I just love how easy this tutorial is!

The Inspiration

Now, you’ve seen the gold-dipped table legs, right?

And the glitter-dipped mugs?

Well, I got to thinking, why couldn’t create the same fabulous look with some Glitter-Dipped Gift Tags?!  And I turned that thinking into doing to create these lil gems, the tutorial for which is so easy, you’re gonna say, “Really Lauren?  That’s it?”  Yep.  That’s it.  (I love it when I can find simple ways to create snazzy gift wrap.)

Be sure to stay with me to the end because I’m just one of 24 bloggers sharing posts today inspired by “brown paper packages.”  So, you’re going to have a wealth of inspiration for your gift wrap this season.  Woot woot!

Let’s get started.

Supply list for creating your own Glitter-Dipped Gift Tags

SUPPLIES

  • *Mod Podge
  • foam brush
  • regular or jumbo glitter
  • optional: Brilliance Dew Drop Ink Pads
  • black ink pad
  • alphabet stamps
  • kraft paper gift tags
  • jute twine

Step 1.  For a little added glam, “ink” the edges of your kraft paper gift tags using metallic ink (a tip I learned from my friend Keri from Shaken Together).  I’m lovin’ this set of 4 Brilliance Dew Drop Ink Pads I recently picked up at Jo-Ann’s.

Step 2.  Mod Podge a section of the tag using a foam brush.  This is where you’ll create the “dipped” look.  (Mod Podge is totally a verb, right?)

Step 3.  Time to glitter-fy!  Just grab a shoe-box overtop which you can sprinkle some fairy dust glitter onto the wet Mod Podge.  Prepare to ooooh and aaaah when you shake off the excess to reveal the glitter-dip.

Step 4.  After waiting a few minutes for the glitter-dip to dry, take out your black ink pad and alphabet stamps and add in your message.  It could be the name of the recipient, a holiday greeting, or a simple “to” and “from” like I did!  (I like to replace the “o” with a heart.  Awwww.)

Step 5.  Wrap your gift in some brown paper (I like to upcycle grocery bags) and tie it up with some string (my favorite is jute twine).  I just strung my Glitter-Dipped Gift Tag before knotting my bow.  Done and done!

I love how these turned out Lauren! I have always loved how glitter looks next to kraft paper, but now I’m obsessed with that jumbo gold glitter and I’ll definitely be picking some up ASAP. Thanks for sharing this wonderful idea and for being a part of the series!
