Silhouette Cameo Giveaway (And I Made You a Music Video)

Ladies and germs, it’s a red-letter day here at The Thinking Closet.  I have the opportunity to give-away to one lucky Thinking Closet reader the powerhouse of crafting tools…the Sultan of Slicing…the Queen Bee of Cutting.  That’s right, a Silhouette Cameo machine!

Silhouette Cameo Giveaway at thinkingcloset.com! November 20 - 27. For everyone with a Cameo on their wish list this Christmas!

Yup.  This is the big time, folks.  These Cameo giveaways don’t come around everyday.  But we are gearing up for a huge Black Friday sale next week, and our fine friends at Silhouette decided on a giveaway of epic proportions to help build momentum for the the big event.

I decided to rise to the occasion, as well, and made you all a video.  And not just any ole video.  But a music video.  Recorded and performed by yours truly.  Have I lost my marbles?  Probably.

Here’s the quick backstory of how this came to be….

Music Video Backstory

Most of the time, when I sit down to write a post, I just freewrite for a while, often with a timer on 10 minutes, and eventually, my ramblings lead me to something I deem worthy enough to craft into a published post.

Well, last week, when drafting up this post, I found myself humming a little old Mariah Carey Christmas number you might recognize.  It gets played in every department store on repeat usually starting in late October and runs straight up to Christmas.  That’s right, that catchy little diddy, “All I Want For Christmas!”

Well, one typing finger led to another and before I knew it, I had rewritten Mariah Carey’s seminal work into an anthem for anyone who has a Silhouette on their wish list this year.  And I recorded my parodied lyrics and filmed it, music video style.

Before you click play, let me add the disclaimer that I won’t be winning any Grammy’s anytime soon.  Namely because I apparently sound like a 10-year-old when recorded.  Oh, and I’m long-overdue for a visit to the salon, so just think of my hair coloring as “ombre” instead of grown out.

I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I did making it.  (Lyrics are listed below the video if you want to sing along.)

All I Want for Christmas is a Silhouette Cameo

I don’t want a lot for crafting;
There is just one tool I need.
I don’t care about the glue guns,
Glitter, punches, twine or beads.

I don’t need more spray adhesive,
Double-stick tape, Elmer’s glue;
Rubber stamps won’t make me happy,
Not the way that they used to.

I just want a Cameo,
More than Martha’d ever know.
It’s been my wish so long,
Hope that Santa’s hearing my song!
Oooo, baby!

All the bloggers share their
Silhouette creations.
And I’m overcome by
A wealth of inspiration.

And oh, I just keep dreaming,
That one day I’ll be beaming!
Santa, won’t you bring me the one I really need?
Won’t you please bring a Silhouette machine?

They tell me it can cut through cardstock,
Vinyl, chipboard, fabric, too.
I even have a board on Pinterest
Just for projects it can do.

I just want a Cameo,
More than Martha’d ever know.
It’s been my wish so long,
Hope that Santa’s hearing my song!
Oooo, baby!

All I Want for Christmas Is...A Silhouette Cameo! Music video by thinkingcloset.com. Plus giveaway and Black Friday sales!

Yep.  My marbles are most definitely long gone.  But it was a load of fun!

Writing this song took me right back to last holiday season, when I entered about every giveaway on the planet to win a Cameo of my own.  In fact, I was so enthusiastic about it, that my hubby picked up on my hopes and dreams of winning a Cameo…and while I didn’t win the giveaways, I did find one under my tree Christmas morn.  “Santa” heard my song!  {Click here to read that first post…and learn more about what a Cameo can do!  And if you want to see my year’s worth of Silhouette creations, just scroll down to my Silhouette category in my Project Gallery.}

  5. For the holidays I want to use the Silhouette Cameo to make designs for my Mother in Law’s house. She has MS and lost her job years ago and I think it would be great to use the Cameo to help liven up her home and bring it to modern times with cute vinyl additions! It would be great to be able to create them by Christmas to give her a really fun holiday experience. I love how it can be used to make custom designs and fonts, we would be able to come up with decoration ideas to fit perfectly into any nook or cranny! I’m sure her grand kids will be just as addicted to it as I will be 😉

  6. A little bit of everything! redneck wine glasses, picture frame surrounding a monogram, wall decals, car decals, ornaments, glass etching, shirts. I’m too excited about this!!

  12. I’d love to make so many things if I had a Silhouette Cameo, but my first project would be a subway sign for my bedroom.

  13. too fun!! I was right there with you signing up all around blogland for a Silhouette last year, no luck! Maybe this year’s the year! I have no clue what I’d start with but I’m loving all the adhesive type options, I see some double sided and glitter in my future!

  20. Love your video. I would like to make some vinyl cutouts to decorate some glass Christmas ornaments..but the ideas are endless. Thanks for chance to win.

  21. I would love the opportunity to win this amazing machine!! I would love to begin making beautiful things for my friends and family and my home!

    1. Ha ha. You’re too funny. Well, anyone with the word “Crazies” in their website title is a best karaoke friend of mine! 😉

    1. Glad my cheesy dance moves entertained you, Rebecca! I’m not gonna lie, I love dancing – – even if my moves are circa 1997. Or sometimes the 1960s, apparently! Lol.

    1. Tamie, that’s exciting! And what a sweet Mama you are to think of her and her classroom first! {My heart is officially warmed. Especially as a teacher myself.}

  22. I don’t know what exactly will be the first thing I make……but everybody in my family will definitely be getting a rockin’ Christmas present!!!

  23. An Advent Calendar… I so want to win the cameo, I’ve wanted it for a LONG time but can’t afford it so I know it won’t be under the Christmas tree this year..

    1. Hoping it’s a project realized, and if not with a Cameo, then through some creative inspiration to create that Advent Calendar with supplies and tools you have on hand!

    1. Ha ha. Thanks, Katie! And I TOTALLY used your tip of story-boarding ahead of time. Although it was a time-consuming process, I can’t even imagine how much longer it would have taken if I hadn’t done that. So, thanks for sharing your video wisdom with me! (And I just may be getting a new DSLR with HD video for Christmas. Eek!)

  24. Christmas card would be the first thing I’d make. And little Christmas/winter themed items for my daughter to hand out to her friends/teachers.

  25. Winning a cameo would be so awesome. First thing I would do is subscribe to the program that allows me to turn my own graphics into projects accepted into the silhouette. That is my dream. To create my own graphics and then use them to spread happy thinking to others. Silly dream but true dream.

  26. I have soo many ideas!!! I think the first thing I would make would be holiday greeting cards for friends and family.

  27. Your originality and creativity are truly awesome! Your voice is great and I loved seeing your dancing moves and eyebrow moves (as Lisbeth noted), props, and setting! Most of all I loved seeing YOU! You are quite the amazing and natural spokesperson for this great product—making it known throughout the planet. I won’t be able to hear this song again without thinking of YOUR version! It will be exciting to see who wins it. Thankful for you and looking forward to seeing you SOON!

  28. screaming, dancing, laughing, hugging, it would be an all out throw-down cheer fest around here and then I would get down to business and make a “Merry Christmas” banner for our Christmas card photo, then lots of gifts and scrapbook fun.

  29. You’re Cameo video is ADORABLE!!!! And, if I’m the lucky winner my first projects will be personalized tumblers!!! I’ve seen so many cute ones that I have to make some!!!!

  30. Reading your blog makes my creativity juices flowing! If I win I would totally make myself some necessary pillows for my couch!

  31. After the screamin’ and hollerin’, I would give it to my sister, Terrie, who has always wanted one.The first thing she would make? I’m not sure, but it would be very special-just like Terrie.

  32. I would LOVE a Silhouette…I haven’t got one yet because my kids always seem to get their stuff first! Oh the possibilities!

  33. Ok, the first thing I want to create is a card for my BFF because I want to give it to her for Christmas!! Thanks for the chance!!

    P.S. I love the song!! 😉

  34. Well, I too have an entire board on Pinterest called “When I get my Silhouette”. I’ve been trying to win one from you and several other bloggers for months now. I finally decided if I don’t win one in the next couple of months, I’m buying one. In fact, I may buy myself one with my Christmas bonus. We’ll see. Buuuttttt…..the first thing I’ll make is that Rainbow connection canvas that I’ve seen all over Pinterest. You can see it here: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/284641638921860836/ The song holds a lot of meaning for my husband and I know he would love it hanging somewhere in our home!

  35. Great Video! My friend has a a Silhouette and she makes the cutest cards with it. It would be nice to have one.

  36. Ohmygoodness, I would love to make t-shirts (possibly Breaking Bad ones, with the periodic element symbols) as Christmas gifts. And then I’d design my own gift wrap, and gift tags, and maybe monogrammed ornaments, and… 🙂 Can you tell I’m excited by all the possibilities.

  37. You are so freaking creative Lauren! Good job! And the singing was good. Heck…if you can do that for the world to hear…amazing! And oh…I so want to win the Silhouette!!! 🙂

  38. I almost laughed when you wrote “after you scream and dance around the house.” I’ve told people that I’d be the most boring winner for a camera, but I think I could get pretty excited about the cameo. (I’d shock my family if I screamed and danced around the house.)
Anyway, I’d love to try it to make some vinyl art for the kids’ room. I’m sure my teenager would LOVE to have something Dr. Who on his wall. Bear, something Lego. BunBun, something music. Babycakes, Jake and the Neverland Pirates (or Max and Ruby). One thing I really like about (although is only in theory and not by experience) is the ability to create my own design.
    I loved your video. Awesome.

  39. AAAHHH!!!! So if I win, I will run around my house and maybe even my neighborhood screaming my lungs out, then I will come back home and make new labels for all my spice jars. Ha!

  40. oh my goodness I love your music video! haha, I think you’ve made a new fan here 🙂 I would dance and scream and slap myself… then I would make a family birthday calendar!
    Alyssa

  41. Christmas gift tags 🙂 and yes- I would be jumping and screaming all over my house if I won! I have wanted one of these amazing crafting machines for such a long time…

  42. I would seriously scream and dance around and then start planning the designs for the christmas shirts i want to make for my family this year!!!

  43. Christmas cards for the relatives overseas! I need need the cameo to be able to make titles in other language. that’s the only option..

  44. Lots and lots of christmas ornaments to cute’n up my aging tree “stuff”. And…let all my grandkids help me make them!

  45. I would definitely scream and dance around the house! but then I’d make christmas gift tags, christmas pillow with freezer paper, christmas gifts for etching glass. christmas ornaments. I mean, my list is long!
    thanks!

  46. The Silhouette is one of those things that makes my head spin with all the endless possibilities of things that can be done with it! I see so many blogs and pins on all the very different types of things that are being made with it that I think I would start with something simple like cutting some paper into letters to create a banner.

  47. Love your music video! I would love to win a silhouette and would do classroom projects for my daughter. Dog themed I am sure!

  48. You are great!
After taking a moment, realizing it was true, then doing a happy dance, I’d probably make some signs I’ve dreamed of having, but could never afford to buy. (Wow, what a long run on sentence. I’m sure my English professor would cringe) : )

  49. I don’t know if I would have the energy to do anything after all the screaming and dancing. I would like to cut some fabric to make things for my children.

  50. Ha, I can totally relate to entering tons of blog contests for this, I’m pretty sure I’ve entered at least 35 already tonight! I would first make some custom onesies.

  51. Best. Video. Ever. Too cute!

I have been a good girl this year soooo…
I would love to have a Cameo to make personalized Christmas gifts!

  52. There’s so much I could do. But definitely the first thing I’d make would be decor for the kids’ bedrooms.

  53. well…. I have a DIY list about a mile long, but my first project would be Superman and Batman stuff for my soon to be 3 twin nephews birthday party!!! Love the video too!!!

  54. You’re right, I would scream and dance around first, if I won the Cameo. And then as soon as I received it, I would make some wall quotes for my house. Thanks for the chance to do some screaming and dancing!

  55. Ah that was so much fun to watch! I was going to say “you would be fun to have around at Christmas Time” and then I thought that I will change it to ” you ARE fun to have around at Christmas Time” 🙂

  56. I am excited that I have stumbled upon your blog as you love what you do and it shows! I am will be following for a long time now.

The first thing that I would make wood wood wall art for the playroom and then festive vinyls for mirrors.

  57. I love the video and the lyrics! My favorite part is your synchronized eyebrow raising and pointing to your Pinterest board. Thanks for a good laugh!

  58. We need more Christmas decorations around here… so I’d start with some subway art or maybe have my kids help me make some cool ornaments.

  59. Lauren?

    YOU’RE AWESOME!
Seriously. You wrote a whole song abut a crafting tool?! You’re probably not only awesome, you’re also a little bit crazy maybe, but in a good way! 🙂

    <3

    Love, Midsommarflicka

  60. Way too many projects to think of but I think the first thing I’d create would be home decor Christmas projects for gifts!

  61. Loved the parody! You are lucky your husband picked up on the hints 🙂 I have been entering every Silhouette giveaway I can find, but alas my sweet husband is not paying attention to the hints. Thanks for the chance to win one!

  62. You are some kind of mad genius. So funny! I have wanted one of these bad boys for so long. Totally entering every single one of these giveaways. But I’m hoping Santa brings me one even if I don’t win too! 😉

  63. It’s so hard to decide where to start, but since Christmas is coming, I would make some gifts for neighbors and family.

  64. If I won, I would label everything in my pantry. That place is a hot mess right now!

Funny thing – I spent HOURS on your site last night and I followed you on almost all social media. Then I was sent this link by my friend Trisha and entering was super easy since I already binge-followed you the night before haha.

  65. Just sold my cricut in hopes of getting a silhouette, and then this magnificent giveaway came about! I hope I can replace my machine so quickly!

  66. Seriously, you just cemented your way as my pretend BBFF status. You know the one that only exists in my dreams because you’re waaaay cooler than I?!

This makes me want to get on a plane armed with my glue guns (you think airport security will stop me? haha) and fabric medium and craft the weekend away. All in a non-creepy, I love u mucho kinda way.

  67. After I giggle with glee and dance around (very uncoordinated since I’m 7 months prego), the first project I’d do is create a mural of some sort for the shared nursery between our baby and his big sister!

  68. My first project, cut vinyl for two canvas signs for Christmas gifts. But I would use the cameo for all my crafty needs, the possibilities are endless. Thank you for the chance to win.

  69. I don’t know what I’d make first (after I stopped crying, screaming & dancing around,) but I’d sure like to find out. Thanks to you & Silhouette for the chance.

  70. I can’t wait to try using fabric with the Silhouette, something I could never do with my old Cricut. I want to dress up our bedroom by adding nautical embellishments to our bedding.

  71. Your music video made me LOL! The first thing I would create with the cameo (after making a big “YAY” sign for winning it would be some t-shirts. I don’t think I would leave my house for days!

  72. I would create the most awesome gifts for my grandchildren. Thank you for sponsoring this give away.!!! How fun it would be to win.

  73. The first thing I would do is make the ‘Advent Trees’ from a file I bought LAST year and then could not cut because my Cricut and SCAL decided to get a divorce without consulting me first!!!

  74. That video was hysterical and so true. Every time I see a blog post about a clever Cameo craft I immediately “pin it” then get so bummed out because I remember I don’t have one. The first thing I would do?!?!? Christmas projects! Wait, no…. wedding projects (since I’m getting married in May)… OR I could really do some projects around the house since my fiance and I moved from MI to NY a few weeks ago and there’s LOTS to do around here.

    1. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials! (Isn’t nuptials such a funny word? Ha ha.) But seriously, I love your ideas for crafting with a Cameo. So many projects, so little time, right?

  75. I would use the Cameo to make some new home decor out of vinyl! I cannot wait to create a wonderful new home with the help of this awesome machine!

  76. I would make something with vinyl for the holidays for sure! A glass block first, then ornaments, then a charger, pictures. So many things I want to make! My Pinterest board is overflowing with ideas!

  77. A friend in our scrapping group shared your music video with us and it put a smile on ALL our faces!! If I won a Cameo, I think the first thing I would make would be accents for a December Daily, followed by LOADS of stencils that I could use in my art journaling and cardmaking. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

    1. Aw, that’s so sweet to hear! I’m delighted to know I have some kindred crafting spirits in a scrapping group somewhere. Wish I could scrap with you ladies for a day!

  78. OMG I have SO many projects to start on….the Cameo is so much nicer then the baby cricut I have…I think I will have to start a new pintrest board and reorganize…then buy SCAL, then start on our camper, or the craftroom, and I just found some new ideas for the bathroom, kitchen, and christmas tree…..never mind Ill just quit my job and never leave my house : )

    1. Ha ha. Lisa, I know that feeling! I just want to stay home all day and craft with my Cameo! It’s bad….

  79. Awesome video! I would love to win, my first project I think would be to make stencils. I have so many projects in mind for wall art and having different fonts available would be awesome. So pick me, pick me!!! And thanks for the opportunity to win one of these.

  80. My first silhouette project would be pink glittery monogrammed Christmas ornaments for my little girl’s very first tiny bedroom tree in her room this year!

    1. How special that she has her own tiny tree! I’m sure she’d LOVE some glittery pink ornaments hand-made by Mama (and her Cameo!).

  81. At first I really thought it was Mariah Carey, or perhaps the original Snow White from the movie. Great job singing, Laur. So clever and funny in the silly-song family tradition.
The first thing i would NOT do is jump up and down–might hurt myself.
    I’d read the directions!
Then I think I like the etched glass labels or more punny tee shirts like the one you made me in your Father’s Day blog.
    Y

    1. Dad, you’re too too kind! (I also love that Dad is now your middle name.) And it’s true, you are the original parody song writer who instilled in me (at a very young age) an appreciation for all things silly and musical and re-written for laughs! Remember all those tributes you’d put together for folk leaving our church? Entire revues of parody songs! Those were EPIC.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and the Castelli clan! Miss y’all!

  82. Oh my gosh Lauren you are soooooo hilarious.. i absolutely LOVED the video… is that you singing for real?? Oh the fun we would have if I lived in FL or you lived in IL….

    You go girl!!!

    xoxox

    1. Brave…or crazy! Ha ha. And that Little Mermaid compliment knocked me off the couch. Hard to believe it, but I’ll take it! If I go knocking on Disney’s door, I’ll just tell them Raven sent me! 😉

  83. I really want to make fancy little pillow-shaped gift boxes for the presents that I’m mailing to my parents’ house. That way, they’ll already be all gorgeous and ready to go under the tree!

Oh, and way to write a song! Your creativity is amazing! I haven’t made up any decent song lyrics since I was 12 or younger. You still got your mojo, though! Good for you!

Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for hosting!

    1. I’m SURE you’d be up for the task, Karen! That mojo is in there somewhere! (Somehow, I managed to dig mine up…ha ha.) And I love the idea of creating the pillow-shaped gift boxes. I have yet to try those myself, but they’re apparently REALLY do-able with a Silhouette!

  84. I will make an advent calendar for my girls. (after the screaming and dancing and celebrating, of course. 🙂 )

  85. How did you know??!?! yes I will be dancing around the house, screaming… my child will probably wonder what the heck happened to his mom. ha ha. And first I will make some crafts with my little sidekick. He loves to make things for his cousins. We will probably start with cards and then to so christmas vinyl for our walls to spruce up the place. Thanks for the giveaway! Crossing my fingers!

  86. I’d make a Christmas countdown first and then that would be followed by an array of crafts that I have stored on Pinterest 🙂

  87. I have been trying to win a Silhouette for almost a year. Winning a Cameo would be super duper awesome! I would jump for joy and then lock myself in my office for days to create cards, Christmas decorations, freezer paper stencil some clothes, make vinyl decorations for my home, and who knows what else my brain would come up with once my wheels got spinning. Thanks for another chance to win, your blog is always fun and fresh!

    1. Aw, thanks, Angelica! Speaking of fresh and fun, so are your ideas! Hope you get to bring those ideas into reality someday soon.

    1. Bah ha ha ha! Seriously, Amie, your comment was one of my favorites. And you are so SMART because that’s exactly what I recommend to people just starting off. Of course, most people want to dive into intricate and elaborate creations, but small and lame is the way to go, you wise, wise woman, you!

  88. I would make favors for my son’s 6th Birthday party. He wants a Minecraft theme and there are many good ideas and lots of cutting to be done. Hope I win! Thanks for the giveaway!!

  89. Your video was awesome! I very seldom actually watch videos (call me an old fogey!) but yours truly made me grin and giggle – loved it!
I have no idea what I would make. I would probably spend the first few days making googly eyes at it across the room before getting up the courage to walk over and say hello…

    1. Yay! Thanks so much for taking the time to check it out, Brynne! I’m honored. (Especially considering it’s a rarity for you.)

And you made me chuckle with your googly eyes comment; I totally can picture it!

  90. Super cute video!! I admire your creativity! If I am lucky enough to win the Cameo, I would create spirit wear for my children. We missed their reg day in August, so they were unable to purchase new t-shirts this year. Turning 50 tomorrow!! This would be a truly wonderful belated bday gift!!

    1. Happy belated 50th birthday, Lisa! And I love that you would use a Cameo for spirit wear. No need to purchase t-shirts when you have a Silhouette at your fingertips! (And thanks for the sweet words about my video. I appreciate it!)

  91. My first project would be a vinyl quote for above the fireplace. Then some cute vinyl on the glass of picture frames, then maybe this deer antler project I’ve had my eye on. . .

    1. You know, that’s funny, Amy – – when I was first reading your gold vinyl coasters post and saw the Silhouette vinyl, I perked up and thought, “Amy has a Silhouette?! I’ve gotta invite her to my FB group!” and then I realized you’re just a rockstar using vinyl even without a Silhouette because you’re amazing like that. Seriously, you’d have thought you DID have a Silhouette with how precise your designs turned out!

  92. What would i make? hmmm… i mean really what WOULDNT i make?? honestly i think i would just stare at it for a few days…. i would be like a child on Christmas morning and just not knowing where to start!!!!

    1. Amy, I was the same way last year. It was several weeks before I took it out of the box, I was so in awe of its wonder….

  93. I think I will make a Address label so I can send it to my friend who want’s one so bad. I would love to win for her..

    1. Thanks so much for the compliment, Sharlene! And some wall decor would be loverly with a Cameo at your disposal!

  94. LM is fussing so I have to be quick, but I’ll be back to watch your video because that glitter fake hair is a great teaser! I’d make an ornament if I win. And I’m GOING TO WIN right? You’d think my number has to come up sometime. Every other unicorn seems to have one already.

    1. Ha ha, I love that the fake glitter hair circa 1986 is was drew you in the most, ChiWei. You’re my kinda girl!

(And yes, your number is going to come up one of these days. We just need some magical unicorn dust to sprinkle on these Rafflecopters!)

    1. I haven’t yet tried addressing envelopes, but I’ve seen it done with the sketch pens and the effect is mega-cool. Good choice, Teresa!

  95. I would be ecstatic if I won! I’d immediately start on some bigger vinyl projects I’ve had pinned for a while! And definitely try some cute appliqué shirts for my toddler 🙂

    1. Love these ideas, Kristin! I’m sure you’d be kept busy with toddler projects for quite a while! (In part because I know toddlers are so busy themselves, ha ha.)

  96. You are AMAZING!! I LOVE this video…I watched it twice (so far)

If I win…I would look back at your projects and make photo booth props, or I’d label my glassware, make treat bags, or a banner…the possibilities are endless with all your great ideas!!
    xoxo

    1. Sharon, between your texts and this comment, my month has officially been made. Love to you and yours on this happy holiday!

  97. OMG this is amazing! You’re so freaking funny. And you have a beautiful singing voice! I’m sharing on my FB page today and everywhere! And entering that wonderful giveaway of yours. I’ll be singing that song every day and crossing my fingers that I win!! After I scream and dance, the first think I would make is a sign. Any kind of sign. On a piece of wood. Anything. I. Want. One!!!
    Hugs,
    Jamie @ somuchbetterwithage.com

    1. Jamie, your support means SO much to me, my dear. Seriously, you are like my not-so-secret bloggy angel.

And I hope you get to make that sign on a piece of wood using your new Silhouette so soon, my friend!

  98. OH MY GOSH!!!!!!! You are a fantastic singer. I can’t believe you came up with a WHOLE song! The Silhouette people are officially blown away and now MUST use this video in commercials and on their own website. Seriously… that needs to happen. You need to be the official Silhouette ambassador for 2014! Is that a thing? Let’s make it one.

    1. The official Silhouette ambassador for 2014, eh? I can dig it! You just let them know that it’s now “a thing” and my first act as ambassador will be to send truck-loads of Silhouettes up north for my Canada friends! Our crafting knows no borders! 🙂

    1. Ha ha. Glad to know I’m the good crazay and not the bad crazay! And that makes me smile to know Zoe enjoyed it, too! Hope y’all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Christine.

    1. Ha ha. Bad boy indeed! (Bad because my Cameo keeps me from doing things like laundry, dishes, dusting…it’s all the Cameo’s fault! Lol.)

  99. I’ve been wanting to make this adorable “Little Drummer Boy” t-shirt for years for my little drummer nephew and I have not been able to find a good way to make it without a Silhouette. That would be the first thing I would make…followed by a mile long list of other ideas I have swarming in my head!

    1. Oh, I love that project idea, Whitney! So perfect for the holidays, too. I’m sure you would be able to whip that up no problem with a Silhouette!

  100. Lauren, you are so creative and talented and just a little bit screwy! That’s why I like you so much! Haha (I think we may be long lost sisters or something…) 😉 Thanks so much for the opportunity to win the Silhouette, it’s been on my dream list forever!

    1. Screwy? Why do you say that? (Lol.)

Yes, I’m a total nut-case. And I’m glad it’s not lost on you, Andrea! Long lost sisters, unite!

  101. I would make cards, cut some letters out for projects. so many choices. lets just say i would be busy for a longgg time!

    1. Ha ha. I love that you used the term, “unicorn rock star.” It’s like you really know me or something. 😉

Crossing my fingers and toes with you, friend! (And have a happy Turkey Day tomorrow!)

  102. If I win the cameo I am going to use it for my club mainly. I am the current president of Zeta Kappa Psi Sisterhood at Northampton Community College & we do a lot of volunteer/service projects, this would allow us to do a crafting activity with local children at boys & girls club or other local charity and it will also help us to make projects to sell to benefit local charities. So far this year we have donated proceeds from our haunted hallway to a local cancer charity..This would defintely go to good use!

    1. Wow! These are such worth causes. Thanks for sharing your hopes and dreams for winning and creating with a Cameo! And I’m so impressed by all you and your club are already doing to make the world a better place. Way to share the joy!

  103. After I screamed and screamed I would start making vinyl stencils, and vinyl letters and numbers! They would be on everything and everywhere in my house! Oh the things I could create!

    1. It’s high time then, Jessica! Here’s to hoping Christmas 2013 is YOUR Christmas! Let the label-making COMMENCE. 😉

(Eek! I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see your lovely face here. You’re like a celeb blogger to me…so thanks for stopping by and making my night!)

  104. You are so, so creative!! I just love it! After I scream and dance around the house, I would make my sister and gift using my cameo and tell her she can do the same after she opens hers.

    1. Belinda, I love the idea of you and your sister being Cameo buddies! Oh, the crafternoons you would have….

  105. I want to create pretty much anything vinyl. Oh it’s going to be bad. Vinyl, canvases, vinyl all over my walls. Vinyl on all my crafting tools. Vinyl on my (hopefully) new Cameo. I’m hoping I win. Otherwise all that uncut vinyl is going to look pretty stupid all over my house!

    1. Great ideas, Amy! Yes, vinyl on the Cameo looks so chic. I’ve gotta beautify mine now that you mention it!

Good luck to you and your vinyl-lovin’ self!

  106. Best. video. yet. It rivals the amazing one you made for my bday last year (though I can’t compare, I love them both)!! I especially loved the eye-brow lift moment in this one, and a visit from the great Martha! 🙂 Love that you’re blessing someone with a CAMEO! Can’t wait to find out who the winner is!!

    1. I actually often thought back to that fun parody video of, “Sisters,” when working on this one. The “Sisters” video was so meaningful because of its deep connection to our childhood…and I couldn’t WAIT for you to receive it as a surprise on your b-day. This one upped the ante, though, in terms of audience. I knew that instead of maybe 20 people, it was going out to 10x that…ack! Thankfully, I didn’t let my nerves get the best of me. And I know I had my sweet sister’s voice in the back of my head telling me, “Oh, Sarah Brown? You can TOTALLY play that part.” Love you.

(Ha ha. Love that you appreciated the rhythmic eyebrow lifts! That was totally spontaneous and random…glad it worked!)

  107. That was one AWESOME video, my sentiments exactly! If I won the Cameo, my first project would be some onesies for baby shower gifts.

    1. Thanks, Abby! Big smile over here thanks to your comment. You’ve already created such amazing projects (Christmas sign included) without a Silhouette…I can only imagine what you would do WITH one!

Enjoy your holiday tomorrow, friend. xo

  108. YES! YES! YES! 🙂 Lauren, how did you know 🙂 I love this Mariah song and I LOVE yours much more now because that’s all I want for Christmas 🙂
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your video, you are so cute, they should use your video in their website for the holidays or on TV (I know everyone would love it)
oh! too bad I can’t participate but I really enjoyed watching you sing ha!ha! you are the best 🙂

    1. I’m still beaming over the fact that this video helped your hubby understand how very much you wanted and needed a Silhouette. Yay! My video did its job…and then some, I suppose! So thrilled for you, my friend.

    1. Never say never, Angela! I feel like singing and performing in front of others is WAY out of my comfort zone, yet I’ve been doing it since I was in school. (Trust me, it’s a battle to overcome the nerves nearly every time, but SO worth it when I do just decide to go for it.)

  109. Adorable video!!!! I would make everything! LOL! First I would make so many onsies for me little man that will be here in 3 weeks!!! eeekkk!!! Oh not to mention the ENDLESS makeover possibilities for his room!!!

  110. Imagining opening my beautiful CAMEO and immediately looking up how to make labels for everything in the kitchen!

  111. AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! YESSSSSS!!!! I’VE BEEN SINGING THIS SONG SINCE YOUR VERY FIRST SILHOUETTE GIVEAWAY!!!! (ok, maybe not singing, but for sure saying/thinking only about 90% of the words in your amazing Christmas song.)
If I were to win I would create amazing haute-couture onsesies for our newest grandbaby due to arrive in January.

    1. Ha ha. I love your ALL-CAPS enthusiastic response, Linda! I know you’ve been singing this song for months and months…I’m wishing upon a star that your Christmas wish comes true this year! (And a part of me wants to take over Santa’s job for a spell just to see to it.)

Oh, and I love you for using the term “haute-couture onesies” in your comment. Could you be a cooler grandmom?

    1. Ha ha. Though Tori is so gosh-darn-stinkin’-sweet, I’m sure doesn’t mind in the least! But yes, you should get your own, Emily. Oh, the things you’d create….

  112. I am currently 2 months pregnant and the thought of rhinestones on any and everything baby… hopefully it’s a “girl”! But I think I would start with a rhinestone slogan shirt for my belly!!

  113. I love the video! I’ll be sending it to my hubby to give him a not so subtle hint! Anyways, I would be making Christmas cards and tags and calendars!

    1. Ha ha. Ya know what, Carrie, I’ve already heard one report from a friend who said the video was successful in impressing upon her husband how much she NEEDED a Cameo (she now has one!), so it might be worth a shot! Lol.

  114. Gotta say, that video was AWESOME!!!!!!! Thanks for this opportunity! Once I fell off my chair and picked myself back up, I would create vinyl artwork for the walls of my home. My walls are so boring and I love the art that I see on walls. I would also use it in my new classroom as I am just a couple of months away from graduating and BEING A TEACHER!!!!

    1. Wall art is SO much fun! And yes, a Silhouette would open up a world of possibility for you, Leah Joy. Annnnnd, congrats on being so close to graduating and becoming a teacher. From one teacher to another, ALL THE BEST!

  115. Loved it and very funny. I don’t I could pull it off, actually let me take that back, for a cameo I would. I’ve been trying to win one machines forever. As much as I would like one i can’t afford it. I would like to start my own home business to make some income….so I’m crossing my finger and toes with this giveaway. Thank you again for the giveaway..

  116. Loved it and very funny. I don’t I could pull it off, actually let me take that back, for a cameo I would. I’ve been trying to win one machines forever. As much as I would like one i can’t afford it. I would like to start my own home business with the camel selling embellished rhinestone tees and sweatshirts to the soccer mom’s in my area to make some income….so I’m crossing my finger and toes with this giveaway. Thank you again for the giveaway..

    1. Ha ha. It was a rare moment of wordsmith-wonder, and I’m glad you picked up on that one, Maaike! (Clearly, we share a similar sense of humor.) 🙂

  117. Loved it and very funny. I don’t I could pull it off, actually let me take that back, for a cameo I would. I’ve been trying to win one machines forever. As much as I would like one i can’t afford it. I would like to start my own home business with the camel selling embellished rhinestone tees and sweatshirts to the soccer mom’s in my area to make some income….so I hope that lucky green clover is on my side with this giveaway. Thank you again for the giveaway..

    1. Ha ha. The things we’d do for a Cameo….

Love your business idea! Good luck, Maria, and if your name doesn’t pop up, stay tuned because I’m announcing an epic Silhouette holiday sale in a few hours that just might be an affordable option!

  118. My first project would be an advent calendar for the holidays. I’m thinking one similar to the one my mom always put out when I was a kid!

  119. First of all Lauren….I LOVE LOVE LOVE your music video!!! It was amazing. I think that they should use it for commercials!!! Seriously :).

Second. If I won. I think I’d die, or at least faint. Once I came to I would start working with vinyl. There are soooooo many ideas I have for using vinyl. You can’t even imagine how badly I want a Cameo. Actually, obviously you can! haha

    1. YAY! Delighted to hear you’re a fan. And ha ha, never thought of myself as commercial material, but maybe I’ll have to drop a hint in Silhouette’s ear…lol.

Fainting’s okay, but don’t die on me if your name pops up later tonight, k, Michelle?! I’d never forgive myself! 😉 Hope you get to dive into those vinyl creations you’ve been dreaming of SOON!

  120. I have two GREAT NIECES with me for the holiday season this year. The first thing we’ll be making is an advent calendar.

    Great video – you’re brave!

    1. Oh, I’m sure the nieces would love an advent calendar!

And although I’ve been teaching and directing theatre as well as performing it for YEARS now, I still get nervous putting myself out there like this. It was a worthwhile risk for me, though, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it.

    1. I get a little zany late at night…lol. Glad you enjoyed the video! And I love the birth announcements idea. Congrats to your friend!

  121. Your video was hilarious and I loved it! I would really like to make Christmas presents for my family and especially christmas paper!

    1. For sure, Marilyn! We’ll just have to keep offering them until every one wins one! (That’s the plan, at least.) 🙂

    1. Ha ha. Thanks, Mary! Glad you got a chuckle. (Did the Rafflecopter widget show up for you eventually? Sometimes it can be finicky, so try refreshing or a new browser.)

  122. I would love to use it to make the coolest Christmas gifts and home decor! There are so many things! I could use it to make beautiful labels for my homemade jams and jellies! Label storage. This is so awesome!!!

    1. Love that you make homemade jams and jellies….that’s on my DIY wish list for down the road. And yes, a Silhouette would be a fantastic “friend” to help out with labeling. Good luck, Leslie!

  123. What a funny video, Lauren. LOL
I would make Xmas gifts… I need to finish making them, and the Silhouette would be a great help.

  124. Oh my Lauren ~ you out-did yourself this time! So cute and so so funny. Love you to pieces!
See you tonight to celebrate your sweet hubby’s b-day!

    1. Love you back, Mom! Thanks so much for driving down to celebrate Mark’s b-day…and for hosting us tomorrow for Thanksgiving! We are so looking forward to enjoying your company and the yummy food (sans our pumpkin meatloaf loaves…lol).

  125. I am sooo jealous of your creativity, Lauren! Loved the video, more than You will ever know!

I would love to have a Cameo too..an upgrade from the Portrait 😉 As for the first thing I would make…I would have to say … I am dying to try the stamping kit! Or the printable foils…so many possibilities!

    1. Bev, you have creativity for days, girl…so don’t even start!

Oh, the stamping kit and the printable foils are both so much fun. Got to bust out my gold foil earlier today and as expected, I’m a fan!

  126. Oh goodness…How would I ever pick what to make first!! Maybe a super witty cutout for a t-shirt to put in my hubby’s Christmas stocking 🙂 LOVE the video!!

    1. Aw, your hubby would love such a gift, I’m sure! And thanks for the kind words. So glad you enjoyed my video!

    1. I hear ya, Joy! A Silhouette machine is addicting like that. Just when I put mine away, I take it back out again.

    1. Glad you picked up on that line, Laura! I thought I might have faded out the volume a little too much at the end there, that it might have gotten lost. Not on your keen ears, though! And congrats on your YouTube video debut of late. Look at us, tearing it up on YouTube. Watch out, world! (Lol.)

  127. I have a prayer I want to paint and hang in my kitchen – but my handwriting is horrible and stencils don’t work!

    1. This would be perfect for such a project! (Now, you’ve got me thinking of some prayers I’d like to hang up….)

    1. You’d rock the socks off of a Silhouette machine, Gabby! Would love for you to dive into some glass etching projects. Hugs back, friend!

  128. I have always wanted to make an etched glass jar. I also am in a card swap, so I know I will be able to make a lot of great cards with it. Thanks for the chance.

  129. Great video! So creative. My first project would be do try some vinyl lettering for signs for our Grandchildren’s bedrooms. Fingers crossed…

    1. I grew up such a fearful child, especially when it came to singing or standing up in front of my peers. And then one day in high school, my love of the performing arts eventually outweighed my fear, and just went for it! And they haven’t kept me out of the spotlight since! (Don’t get me wrong, I still get insanely nervous, even on YouTube, but I love it so.) I hope you can let that love overcome your fear one day, too, Sandra!

    1. Aw, Emily…I doubt you give yourself enough credit. If you had heard my first take of the singing, there’d have been some howling, too! That’s the beauty of pre-recording yourself on Garage Band!

    1. Ha ha. I’m a nut, I’m a nut, and I don’t care who knows it!! (Name that Christmas movie – – that I slightly adapted that quote from.) Thanks for stopping by so regularly, Glenna, and for putting up with my silly antics.

  130. YOU ARE THE GLITERRY-IST UNICORN OF ALL OF THE THE GLITTERY UNICORNS!!! This was so awesome 🙂 You are too cute for words and I love you bunches! (And yes, I entered. You brought me such good luck winning the Portrait that I thought I’d try my hand at the Cameo giveaway, too.) I’ll be sharing this giveaway and your video all over the place, because you are just that awesome. XOXO

    1. Ha ha! You know that being the glittery-est unicorn of all the glittery unicorns is my life long goal, so your comment means THE WORLD to me, Kirsten. (Lol.) Thanks for showering me with more love than I deserve on a regular basis. As we approach Thanksgiving (in an hour), I am oh so thankful to God for you, my friend. Mwah!

  131. my first project would be some sibling shirts for my sister’s kids and the one on the way….then I’d make some fun shirts for my own kids
