20 Punny Halloween Costume Ideas
This is what happens when you wait to create your Halloween costume until the last minute:
Get it?! We’re The Black-Eyed Peas! (Or rather, The Black-Eyed Ps.)
Just a bit of black eyeshadow and Ps cut out of duct tape paper (yes, they sell duct tape in 8.25″ x 10″ sheets!)…easy peazy.
I actually find punny Halloween costumes quite funny. I love that they require a wee bit of brain power to understand. (Step aside, “sexy nurse.”)
I also think my father’s sense of humor has rubbed off on me. He has a knack for inserting puns into any and every conversation, and I love him for that.
{Update: I even made him a t-shirt celebrating his love of puns.}

I had to come in to tell you that I LOVE the costume!! I laughed out loud it was so funny!!! Also love the burlap pumpkins. WHAT FUN!!
Michele, I’m so glad to know our costumes gave you a chuckle. Just wait until I share what we did this year on Tuesday – – and yes, the costumes were punny ones, too!
(And thanks for the sweet words about the burlap pumpkins!)
Ha! Love it! I love cheap, DIY costumes that are creative and funny:)
Thanks, Katie! I know – – I always feel a sense of accomplishment if I can avoid a trip to Party City when putting together a Halloween costume….
I found you at Sew Many ways. This is great! I plan on showing this to my teenager who will appreciate the humor and (maybe) get some good ideas for this year.
Awesome, Cheryl! I hope it’s helpful! (Pssst. If your teen wants to go the punny route, but isn’t sold on any of the ideas on this list, I’m planning on sharing a post with 20 MORE Punny Halloween Costume Ideas on 10/22…but shhh, don’t tell anyone.) 🙂
Hey, just wanted to let you know you were featured at I Freakin Did it Friday!
Ha ha. Glad someone else appreciates puns! Thanks for the feature, Kelley.
Very funny, Laur!! I especially liked the Holy Cows and the cat burglar. I guess I’m just an animal lover. And thanks for the citation. Last time I got one I was going over 55. But we all know I’m way over 55, and…mom says to stop now.
Love,
Dad
Classic move. 😉 Glad you enjoyed it, Popsie! (The cat burglar is one of my faves, as well.)
I love the black eyed peas idea! So awesome! Thanks so much for linking up with us at the Keep Calm & Link Up party – hope you are having a wonderful weekend so far!
I am! Thank you so much! I appreciate you stopping by, Sarah.
Love the photos of you two and the great pun costumes. Please repost next year about a week or so before Halloween!!
Yes, that’s what I’ll do! And thanks!
These are fantastic but I LOVE yours. Thanks for linking up
Thanks, Kelley! We had a lot of fun…and it was so easy to pull together in the final hour.
ok, that is hilarious! i liked the cat burglar and candy wrapper the best!
Glad to know someone else finds them funny!
I was a Binder Full of Women! LOL! Cute costumes & great list!
Ha ha! That’s awesome. Would love to see pics! Let me know if you post any.
Fantastic! too bad i saw them too late but hopefully I’ll remember some of them for next year!!!!!!!
I’ll probably re-post it again next year in advance. 😉
You guys look increds. Did you get a lot of trick or treaters?
Sadly, no! We only got four kids (all in one group); apparently, our neighborhood doesn’t get a lot of trick-or-treaters. So, we ended up harassing people working out on the bike path. Most of them refused the candy since it would have sort of defeated the purpose of their exercise – ha!
But we still had fun. Did y’all get many kids?
I love the black-eye pea idea. too funny
Thanks, Carla! I can’t take credit for coming up with it; there are several examples online…I thought it was clever and easy enough to pull together in the final hour!
Love it! Great little round-up for last minute costumes!
Thanks for stopping by, Katie! Your round-up of couples’ Halloween costumes was awesome. For anyone who hasn’t seen it, check it out here.
New Girl last night? The queen costume with stuffed animals attached to it who was “reigning cats and dogs”? 🙂
Ha ha! That’s awesome. Definitely need to add it to the list!
