Now, some of you may be scratching your heads right now because these cutie Christmas Tree Gift Boxes are looking mighty familiar to you.  Well, that’s because they were inspired by my Flower Tab Gift Boxes from this past Mother’s Day.  Remember those?

Welp, after seeing that they had been downloaded 5,000 times (yowza!), I thought I’d give the people more of what they want, and so I created an adaptation for the Christmas season.

These teeny tiny adorable gift boxes really are the perfect size for all of those teeny tiny thoughtful gifts – – gifts like…

  • ‘lil stocking stuffer items
  • jewelry
  • a bag of seasonal candy to leave on a co-worker’s desk
  • a gift at each place setting for Christmas dinner

Bottom line: I have no doubt you’ll find a way to use this freebie!

Here’s how to use my template to create your own Christmas Tree Gift Boxes out of scrapbook or printer paper this holiday season.

Tutorial

Step 1.  Download the free box template and cut your design.

Just like last time, I worked with two kinds of 12″ x 12″ paper: very thin scrapbook paper (akin to printer paper in thickness) as well as *heavier specialty paper closer to cardstock thickness (approx. 65 lb).  The heavier paper definitely worked better and looked better (it was double-sided).  But in a pinch, use what you’ve got!

As promised, I have two FREE downloads for all subscribers of my email newsletter, so everyone gets to play: a free Silhouette cut file for those of you with a Silhouette or digital craft-cutter and a free PDF printable for everyone else!

Silhouette users: the base of this box is approximately 2.75″ x 2.75″ and it’s about 2.75″ high; however you can resize it as needed.  Just remember to do a test-cut to confirm your blade settings are correct.  (Note: if using thinner paper, I recommend using an old mat that has lost a lot of its stickiness.)

Printable instructions: the 2.2″ x 2.2″ base perfectly fits on one 8.5″ x 11″ sheet.  You can just print (with the printed lines on the inside of the box) and cut it out with a pair of scissors.  And the larger 2.6″ x 2.6″ size (closer in size to the one featured in this tutorial) fits on 8.5″ x 11″ sheet in two parts.  So, you’ll just need to cut them out and tape them together as a stencil to trace onto a larger sheet.  An x-acto knife might be better suited to that task.

Step 2.  Fold the four edges of the box.  Simply fold up the four bottom edges of the box, aiming to perfectly align the folds with the cut edge so there are no gaps.

Step 3.  Curl in your four walls.  Just use your hands to gently curl and tuck the walls inward, the 2 opposite walls at the same time.  This will help your box ease into its snug curved position.  If using thinner paper, you may even find that it helps to fold the two edges on the Christmas tree sides about halfway up.  If using heavier paper, this won’t be necessary.

Step 4.  Place your gift item at the base of the box.  Now it’s time to grab your nail polish or necklace or treasure box key, wrap it in some tissue paper, and place it center stage.  That confetti-style stuffing would be fun to use, too!

Wrap up your gift and place it in the center of your Christmas Tree Gift Box...you're almost done!

Step 5.  Close your box!  First grab the Christmas trees so they meet in the middle.  Then, one side at a time, carefully slide the slits over the conjoined trees to seal up the box.  And voila: your Christmas Tree Gift Boxes are all ready to be gifted!

Seal it Up! Once your goodies are tucked inside the Christmas Tree Gift Box, you're ready to close up shop and make someone's day.

You can even see the entire process from start to finish in this 15-second Instagram video I made with my Flower Tab Gift Box:

So…easy.

And by golly, they make me want to grab every teeny tiny treasure in sight just so I can wrap ’em up in teeny tiny Christmas Tree Gift Boxes.

Worried about remembering whose box belongs to whom?  You can use some alphabet stamps, cardstock, and baker’s twine to create some teeny tiny gift tags to tie around the base of the tree.  #adorbs

  1. Thank you very much. I love your boxes!

I just shared them on my blog as part of a series called 30 Days of Pretty Christmas Printables. I used your pin-able image and have a link back to this post. The post will be live tomorrow.

    Thanks again!

  2. So fun! I’m going to go find some tiny treasures in need of wrapping so I can get out my scissorhands and get to work! Thanks for sharing your ideas and hard work with us!

  3. Pinned.
I love anything that’s teeny, tiny and these are perfect for all of those reasons you mentioned.
Why, if you had a bunch of them around the table they would make a mini Christmas tree “forest”!
Can’t wait to get out my scissor hands and use the printable.

PS: I went to check out the alphabet stamps and they are currently unavailable on Amazon…:-(

    1. Yes you do! 😉 And I love the idea of a little forest of gift boxes. Ha ha. P.S. Thanks for the heads-up about the alphabet stamps. I updated the link with a set of upper-case letters in the same style that are in stock!

      1. Oh, thanks. I’ll check that new link out! May your day today be filled with moments of expectancy and calm as you prepare for the celebration of His birth!
