Scarf Week Kick-Off, Link Party, & Giveaway!

Scarf Week 2014 with Dream a Little Bigger, The Learner Observer, The Thinking Closet, Tried & True. 4 tutorials a day from 4 bloggers for 4 days = 16 inspirational scarves. "So Scarfy" indeed, Rob Lowe.

Today marks the start of Shark Week, that epic week that only comes once a year when The Discovery Channel terrifies us to our heart’s content with non-stop shark footage.  We can’t bear to look…and yet we can’t bear to look away either.  We go to bed each night with the soundtrack to Jaws playing in our heads….

You Thinking Closet regulars know that I’m a sucker for puns, and so when the words “Scarf Week” popped into my head a few months back, I knew I had to take the idea and run with it.  And run with it I have!

This upcoming week, while Shark Week is taking over TV-land, Scarf Week will be taking over blogland.  And I have assembled a dream team of talented bloggers to assist me in the glorious take-over.  I give to you…

Psst!  Did you know the graphic above is click-able?!  Magic….

Yes, you know these gals!  It’s Allison of gold shoe fame, Thalita of hutch makeover fame and The Friday Five, and Vanessa of Silhouette Challenge fame!  They are three of the most innovative and out-of-the-box creatives I have ever had the privilege of knowing…so it brings me such joy to have them swimming alongside me in this series.

How Will Scarf Week Work?

So, let me break it down for you:

Starting tomorrow, the 4 of us will each share a new tutorial every day for 4 days, which means you’ll be getting 16 inspirational scarf tutorials this week!

“So Scarfy” indeed, Rob Lowe:

You’ll find everything from wrist scarves to neck scarves to head scarves, D.I.Y. scarves to tasseled scarves to repurposed scarves…plenty of inspiration to keep your crafty hands busy so you don’t end up biting off your fingernails while watching all that terrifying shark week footage.

It’s going to be graaaaand!

Tomorrow

We look forward to having you along for the punny, scarf-tastic creativity fest this week.

And remember, that while it may be a bad week to be a seal, it’s a great week to be a scarf.

Catch you tomorrow morning when I share my first of four scarf tutorials.  Here’s a “behind the scarves” sneak peek….

Stay scarfy,

  1. Oh, why did you had to do this in the week I hadn’t access to the internet? It would have been fun to come up with a scarf DIY and join all you girls!
I will definitely watch all your tutorials now…

    Love, Midsommarflicka

  2. Lauren, thank you for having “just” an entry so we can try to win. Most blogs make you like them on facebook, twitter, dance naked in the woods, etc. I love getting lessons about scarfs but the only problem is when I go to do one I usually can’t remember what to do. I will have to keep your instructions. Thanks again.

  3. YAY! So excited for this! Can’t wait to see you videos 🙂 What a fun idea!

By the way, every time I see that Rob Lowe Shark Week commercial now, I automatically picture him wearing a pink scarf. HAHA!

  4. Lauren, this is such a great idea! I love me some scarves and I’m excited to see what great ideas you’ll be sharing with us. And whooooa…. wouldn’t you know it that a Shark Week commercial JUST came on the TV as I’m typing this out! How crazy! I had to scroll up and show my husband your “So Scarfy” Rob Lowe image….he just rolled his eyes. 🙂

  5. How do I tell you how much I love this idea! 🙂 My irrational shark fear has spread to a fear of all big open bodies of water. Yeah even fresh water. So shark week is not my fav TV week. BUT NOW, now that it’s Scarf Week it’s not so bad! I have a great scarf DIY idea for folks that I linked up. Thanks!
