Choose Your Own Adventure: Fall House Tour
Raise your hand if you grew up loving Choose Your Own Adventure books. Whoa! So, I’m not alone, eh?
I loved how every few pages, you were confronted with a choice, and the story would alter based on your decision. Some choices led to success and others to complete and utter disaster! For instance,
“As you ascend deeper into Gull Cave, your flashlight catches on two passageways ahead. The passageway to the left takes a steep drop; you’ll have to use your rock-climbing gear to descend. You see flickering shadows down the passageway to the right; you might have happened upon the goblin den! To take the passageway to the left, turn to page 40. To take the passageway to the right, turn to page 97.”
Aren’t you eager to try both!? See, that was the best part. As soon as one tale ended (sometimes, in your untimely death), you could start all over again and make completely different choices. That’s what you can do when you’re the star of the story.
Well, today, dear reader, YOU are the star of Choose Your Own Adventure: Lauren’s Fall House Tour! And I promise none of the choices will end in premature death…unless being around a kitty sends you into anaphylactic shock.
I’d love to have you over to my humble abode today for a visit, some goodies, and a chat. Oh, and you betcha I’ll show you some of my fall decor along the way.
Also, if you stick with me to the end of the tour, you’re in for a treat, because I’m joining 7 lovely ladies today who are also sharing tours of their porches and mantles and artfully decorated homes. You’ll have an opportunity to click through and continue on in the fall house tour fun later. K? K.
Alright, we’ll let’s get this adventure started, shall we?
Choose Your Own Adventure: Fall House Tour
You look at your watch. The clock nears 1p, and you have that sneaking suspicion that you’re supposed to be somewhere, but can’t for the life of you remember where. Suddenly, your phone buzzes with a new text message. It’s your friend, Lauren! That quirky blogger who loves to write run-on sentences and overuse exclamation points! And your text conversation puts that sneaking suspicion to rest. You have a fall house tour to get to!
Luckily, they just recently figured out that whole teleporting thing, so with a snap of your fingers, you’re at the end of Lauren’s driveway. She wasn’t kidding about the heat! Within a few seconds, you already feel your hair starting to frizz up, Bride-of-Frankenstein-style, and droplets of sweat threaten to make an appearance on your brow.
Luckily, it’s not too long before you reach that red front door. You smile because you recognize Lauren’s felt rosette wreath from last year. It’s still goin’ strong!
It’s like those little rolled felt rosettes pull you in like Kaa’s hypnotizing snake eyes in The Jungle Book. You’re lost in thought, staring into those tightly wound swirls of felt when all of a sudden, the door creaks open.
It’s Lauren and her cheesy smile! She instantly snaps you out of your wreath trance and welcomes you inside to the air-conditioned kitchen. Ah, sweet relief! After giving you one of those hugs that almost knocks you over (yep, she’s a hugger), Lauren says,
“First things first, friend: how is your hunger and thirst level?”
You shake your head and assure her you’re fine.
“Nonsense!” she exclaims. “This is a fall house tour! I have fall treats for you to enjoy as part of the experience.”
“Well, if you insist!” you chuckle.
“Okay, so if you’d like something warm in a mug, I have hot mulled cider. Or if you’re feeling hungry, I also have apple nachos. How ’bout it?”
You’re faced with a tough decision. Which will it be? To guzzle down some hot mulled cider, click HERE. To snack on some apple nachos, click HERE.
The story continues….
I commented on a different page at the end of my “adventure” about my LOVE for this post, but I’ll say it again…I love it!! Also had to mention, I couldn’t help but chuckle out loud at clicking on your Kaa link and being brought back to my childhood for a moment. Thanks for that!

I laughed so hard Lauren this is hilarious! Now see, I told my husband we need a red front door too not just the back of the door.
We didn’t even choose the red for our front door (we’re renting), but I love it so! (Though it could use a fresh coat of paint. You want to tell my landlord for me?) And I’m always delighted when I can make the hilarious Alex laugh!
Oh my dear, Lauren. You had me at choose your own adventure!

Lauren! I love this!!! What a wonderful way to make a simple house tour exciting. You know I was hanging on every word. I just wish I could snap my fingers and do my adventure in person. I hit the back button and made every choice there was. Awwww, I used to love those choose your own adventure novels. I would hold my place whenever I made a choice, just in case it ended in my death. BTW, I LOVE your pun halloween costumes!!! What are you plotting this halloween?
Hugs my friend!
~ Bethany
