Napoleon Dynamite is…though his facial expressions will never give way to his true emotions:

And I sure am!  Because there’s excitement to be had even beyond the fact that the weekend is upon us: The Friday Five” just got bigger and better.  (Didn’t think it was possible, did you?  wink.)  In fact, I’ve dubbed today’s post Version 2.0 for a reason.  Here’s the tale in a medium we all know and love: comic book form.

Join us for The Friday Five with Thalita & Lauren | 8 a.m. Eastern {most} Fridays on the blogs!

For those of you who don’t already know Thalita from The Learner Observer, you’re in for a treat!  Thalita and I “met” back in January when I shared my Blogging Dreams & Goals for 2013 and mentioned wanting to migrate to WordPress.org.  Well, Thalita was in the same boat and offered to help me in any way she could.  There and then, I knew she had a heart of gold!  And we’ve been best bloggy buddies ever since.

I’ve been soaking up inspiration at her blog, The Learner Observer, with her “Weekend Winners” posts since she first started the series 15 weeks ago…and I’m thrilled that she decided join me and rename it “The Friday Five!”  We’ll be posting our inspiration at the same time {8a eastern} on {most} Fridays, so after you check out my 5 links, I urge you to visit Thalita and see what gems she has collected for you.  She’s got major skills in the art n’ design departments, so brace yourself for some eye-pleasing images!

Alright, well let’s get to it!  The Friday Five…with 5 word intros again!  I’m enjoying this challenge to be concise.  And trust me, it is a challenge for this wordy, wordy girl.

Basically you can now think of The Friday 5 as The Friday 10…but that’s not quite as catchy of a title, so we’re sticking with the alliterative one.  I’m sure the English majors out there can appreciate that!

G’day, mates!

    1. It’s awesome, isn’t it, Leah? Every time I use it, I discover something new! And I’ve been really flattered to have Rhonna Farrer herself “like” a few of my pics, too! (I think she visits ones are hashtagged, #rhonnadesignsapp.) I feel a bit like I just got a head nod from a celebrity when that happens. Tee hee.

  1. So I know I’m totally late for the party, but I’m finally playing catch-up. YAY! I can’t even tell you how insanely happy I am that we’ve taken The Friday 5 on together. You are a totally inspiring and amazing blogger and person, so I’m honored – for realsies! Is it Friday yet? 😉

    1. Ha ha! I know, I can hardly wait for this Friday to get here for our next installment! The Friday Five suddenly got WAY more fun for me knowing that we’re in it together. 🙂 The honor is all mine, m’dear. Just so glad that you agreed to this crazy scheme…and to the comic strip mayhem. You are SO my kinda gal!

    1. Thanks, Jennifer! I don’t know why, I’ve always been drawn to comic strip format. Might have been all those Archie comics I read late into the night as a youth. Ha ha. #teambetty

  2. Oh, I can totally appreciate the alliteration 🙂 (< former English major) And the comic book approach! Thanks for sharing the Tooth Fairy note – too funny! And I'm SO looking forward to meeting you at Haven!

    1. Emily, I’m eager to meet you, too! I’m having fun with this whole “photo a day” challenge on Instagram. It has been a fun way to connect with other bloggers before Haven…like you! (Your puppy pic today was too cute.) Thanks for stopping by to check out my Friday Five. English majors unite!

  3. The tooth fairy note reminds me of when K collected all her “tooth money” and set it out next to a lost tooth of P’s and demanded all her teeth back. I didn’t even know she had done it until the next morning when she was upset that the tooth fairy wouldn’t give her back her teeth.;)

    1. That’s hilarious! I actually used to write and request that the tooth fairy leave both the money and the tooth behind. I really did not like the idea of my baby teeth disappearing forever and felt quite attached to them. The tooth fairy was kind and listened to my requests! Then, there was the time the tooth fairy “forgot” to show up and I figured “her” out. My dreams were shattered like K’s! 🙂

    1. I never tire of watching that video! And thanks – – I blame it all on the camera and the tips my husband has given me (wink).

  4. #1 gives new meaning to “Cheese Head”!

And Annisa’s letter to the Tooth Fairy is precious! Just last week, one of our new neighbor’s mom came over to ask if we had some string. Her little boy INSISTED that he tie his loose tooth with string and attach it to the door knob. I gave her dental floss (which I think would slip off), but at least he was a happy camper and ready for the tooth fairy too. I haven’t seen them so I don’t know what the outcome was.
    Can’t wait til next Friday!

    1. Ha ha! You’re right about “cheese head.” And that’s too funny about your neighbor coming by for string! I’ve had neighbors ask for flour before, eggs, a garden hose, firewood…but never string to pull loose a tooth! Oooo…it makes me cringe to just think of that little boy trying to pull it out that way. (I have a pretty weak stomach in general about anything bloody or vomit-related.) You’ll have to find out the end of the story and let me know! The suspense is killing me. Ha ha. 😉

    1. Thanks, Kenley! I was thrilled that Thalita was game for a cheesy photo shoot! 😉 And I know, aren’t those tooth fairy notes hysterical? I would not want to mess with Annisa. Hope your week is off to a great start, my friend.

    1. I wonder how many bloggers were English majors…I think there are quite a few of us! Research study, perhaps? In all my free time? Riiiiight. Ha ha. And I’m glad you were entertained by the comic book intro, Sara. I had fun putting that one together. Happy Tuesday to you!

        1. Genius! Now, which one of us is brave enough to endure a typo in our blog post title…hmmmm…. NOT IT! 🙂

  5. So fun! Loved every one from you busting out two characters I enjoy with Michael Scott and Napoleon Dynamite to the Tooth Fairy funnies (wouldn’t want to cross that little Annisa, I dare say!). Thanks most of all for the flavored water ideas. Ever since I bid farewell to my old friend Diet Coke, I have been looking for more ideas to fancy up my water for a little variety. Tried carrots….not good, in case you were wondering. I look forward to next Friday!

    1. Oh my goodness…carrots? You are brave indeed! And I feel our kindredness all the more with your affinity toward Michael Scott and Nap Dyn. I never tire of those two. And isn’t little Annisa quite the force to be reckoned with? I don’t know if you clicked through and saw this or not, but she grew up to become an H.R. manager! How funny is that?!

    1. Thanks, Katie! I have a blast pulling it together…there’s just so much great inspiration out there.
