12 Months of Date Nights Gift & Free Printable!

12 Months of Pre-Planned Date Nights: Creative Gift Idea with FREE Printable from thinkingcloset.com

Mark planned some pretty sweet date nights in 2013.  I mean, the guy feels constricted in most t-shirts, so you know that’s love when he willingly suggests we get dolled up to go out to eat, he in a tux, I in my black sequined jacket.  Everyone at the Mexican restaurant asked us where we were going.  To which we replied,  ”Here!” Our server was sweet enough to offer to take some photos of us to remember {read more…}

Berrylicious Heart-Shaped Ice Cubes

Berrylicious Heart-Shaped Ice Cubes! Such a fun way to jazz up your drinks for Valentine's Day! (or any day for that matter.)

Do you ever purchase something thinking, “I have no idea what I’ll use this for, but I know it will find its purpose one day?” That’s exactly what happened one year ago when I was strolling past the Target $1 bins (we’ve already established the magnetic force field around that section).  My eyes honed in on some rubber heart-shaped molds, which somehow found their way home with me, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting an opportunity {read more…}

From One Broken Tree to Another

Charlie Brown & Linus

In these final hours before Christmas day, an urging in my spirit beckons me back to the ancient texts that tell the story of how love came down on that first Christmas in Bethlehem.  And who better to recite that text to us today than Linus.  Take it away, my blue-blanket-lovin’-buddy: I love that after hearing Linus’ speech, Charlie Brown’s tree isn’t so broken anymore.  He can see past its failings to see its true {read more…}

The Friday Five Finale! (Or is it?)

The Friday Five: Inspiration for Your Weekend!

Since this past June, most Fridays here at The Thinking Closet have been devoted to the sharing of five inspirational links from my week.  Some have rendered a chuckle.  Others even tears.  And let’s be honest, I’ve gone way overboard with the GIF intros. Regardless, it has been a blast! But in an effort to simplify our lives and prepare for a fresh start at the gate of the year, my partner-in-crime Thalita and I feel it’s time {read more…}

My hot drink of choice at Starbucks is a non-fat chai latte with whip.  (The non-fat and the whip balance each other out, right?)  Just imagining that sweet warm goodness spilling down my throat makes me salivate.  It is the drink I buy as a reward on a Friday after a long week.  To stave off the cold when braving the wintry, wind-tunnel avenues of New York.  In preparation for a long musical rehearsal. “Share the Joy” Office Makeover: The Game Plan

InspirationBoard-Square

“Do good on a grand scale.” Those words stuck with me after hearing the closing address at Haven Blog Conference this summer, delivered by Bob Johnson from Habitat for Humanity. As much as I receive deep satisfaction from making our house a home, I appreciated his charge to use our skills and resources as DIY bloggers to make a difference beyond the walls of our home. To bless others. To be a force for positive {read more…}

Paper Bag Gratitude Garland

Paper Bag Gratitude Garland!

Some of my favorite movies growing up were the old classics, and White Christmas was high up on that list.  My sister and I must have performed our own rendition of the “Sisters, Sisters” song a thousand times, pretending our paper fans were voluminous blue feather ones just like the Haynes sisters had.  And who better to sweep the sisters of their feet than a crooner like Bing Crosby and a comedian like Danny Kaye? Well, this {read more…}

The Friday Five: Choose the Stairs

The Friday Five! Inspiration for your weekend.

In case you get your days mixed up (like I sometimes do), it’s Friiiidaaaay, friends!  And that bears celebratin’!  Right, Phoebe? The Friday Five: Pets in Costume

Reindeer cat.

I dare you to attempt to put a Halloween costume on a cat. In my experience, cats have an innate ability to anticipate such evil plots and flee the premises before you can even get a paw through an arm-hole.  Or…if you somehow manage to outsmart your cat’s natural instincts and maneuver a dress over its head or booties on its paws, the cat will fall limp like a rag-doll.  In protest.  In disdain.  As {read more…}

20 MORE Punny Halloween Costume Ideas

20 MORE Punny Halloween Costume Ideas via thinkingcloset.com

Last year, Mark and I pulled off Halloween costumes that were both last-minute and punny.  {Win-win.}  We dressed up as the Black-Eyed Ps and gave out candy to the 5 kids trick-or-treating in our neighborhood.  We even sat out in the street to lure them down our dead-end.  Our costume was met with a look of confusion, right before the parent would go, “Ohhhh!  I get it.” Because every good Halloween costume requires some brain {read more…}

The Friday Five: Cute Kids in Costume

Top 5 Cute Kid Halloween Costumes via thinkingcloset.com

Earlier this week I shared my traumatizing trick-or-treating story.  Well, apparently, I’m not the only one with tales of Halloween terror to tell. Clearly, we now know Batman’s kryptonite: small, speedy canines. And I don’t blame this little girl for turning and walking away; I have the same reaction whenever I see S.O.U.S. (spiders of unusual size). For others, the horror is more on the “treat” end.  When you get handed a healthy treat like {read more…}
