Making a List, Checking it Twice…. My New Tool for Holiday Gift Planning

Holiday Gift Tracker | Making a list and checking it twice.... It's so helpful to have a chart to help you stay organized with gift brainstorming and budget planning around the holidays! Visit thinkingcloset.com to learn how you get your hands on your own tracker!

I was feeling uncharacteristically relaxed about my holiday gifts this year.  We spent Thanksgiving with Mark’s family this year, which means we’re not doing Christmas gifts.  And my family is keeping it simple with small stocking-stuffer gifts.

However, when I started to think of all the neighbors and co-workers and friends for whom we want to give a little something, I realized I needed to get my game face on and get focused.  Christmas is coming, people.  And apparently the goose is getting fat!

Bottom-line: I needed a list.

So, I went in search of a printable holiday gift list.  (It’s amazing to me how sometimes just having a pretty chart can motivate me to get organized.  Can anyone else relate?)

However, none of the charts quite fit what I was looking for.  So, I did what any Queen of Procrastination Station would do.  I made my own!

It quickly dawned on me that I wouldn’t be the only one needing to make a list and check it twice, so I elicited the help of my Graphics Guru and friend Tori Grant to make the chart even prettier.

Holiday Gift Tracker

And so here you have it, folks.  My Holiday Gift Tracker!  Complete with Christmas cookie snack (it’s a requirement for every planning session around this time of year, is it not?)

It includes a spot for multiple gift ideas (because we all need to brainstorm), gift budget and actual spending, as well as dates for gift completion, wrapping, and delivering.  It always makes me feel accomplished to check, check, check!

Now, True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle: I completely made up the gifts in this chart I photographed and even some of the people because my real one would give away some top secret information.  And I’m determined to have some surprises this year…even though my Pinterest boards give too much away!  {Grin.}

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite scenes from the end of the Christmas movie, Elfwhich kept coming to mind…especially as I wrote the title for this post.

is singing loud for all to hear.

    1. Ha ha. I actually wrote totally fake gifts and some fake names, even, just to throw you off course! 😉 But I like your Nancy Drew scheming ways. So glad we got to spend Christmas together last year, and I look forward to our early holiday celebrations this year. Merry, Meaningful Holidays all around!
