My Top Five Favorite Silhouette Creations

It’s no secret in these parts that my absolute favorite crafting tool is my Silhouette machine.  I received mine as a Christmas gift back in 2012, and since then, I have made over 60 projects with this powerhouse of a digital craft-cutter.  She barely gets put away.

I don’t know what I love more: the versatility of how many types of materials it can cut (from paper to vinyl to fabric and beyond!) or its ability to enable an ordinary crafter like me to make some truly professional-quality creations.

I love my machine so much, I have even been known to tote her around to local Disney attractions and “craft-on-the-go.”  Have *Silhouette tote, will travel!

Silhouette-ing on the go! Why not when you have a Silhouette Rolling Tote Bag you can use! My crafting knows no bounds.

The Silhouette in Action

For those who are curious, here are 5 of my absolute favorite handmade creations…each one made with the assistance of my handy dandy Silhouette machine.  And I included an in-process photo along with a finished photo, just so you can catch a glimpse at the behind-the-scenes fun.  To see each step-by-step in detail, just click through the link to the full tutorial.

#1.  Personalized Etched Casserole Dish

My casserole dishes will no longer “accidentally” walk home with someone else.  Not now that they have been “branded” thanks to the help of my Glass Etching Starter Kit!

#2.  Temporary Tattoos for Crafters

I decided that my business cards needed a little extra SWAG this summer in preparation for Haven Blog Conference, so I very easily whipped up three unique designs for some temporary tattoos that catered specifically to the craft & D.I.Y. crowd.  They were a hit!

#3: Washi Tape Christmas Tags

The adhesive cardstock is one of my favorite of the specialty media products to play with…and they worked perfectly to help bring my Washi Tape Christmas Tag vision to reality.  I love the splashes of a-typical holiday colors involved, too.

4.  Gender Neutral Onesies

The babies keep comin’…and I keep using my Silhouette to create custom onesies!  Truly, they are some of my favorite gifts to give!  I think it’s the adorable size along with the challenge to come up with something unique for each kiddo.  Heat transfer vinyl makes for such a polished finished look.

5. Sketch Pen Place Cards

Oh, and did I mention that you can swap out the Silhouette blade for sketch pens?  Yepper.  We use these handy-dandy place-cards nestled into some gold spray-painted plastic animal place-card holders whenever we have dinner guests.  Wouldn’t they be fun around your Thanksgiving table this week?

  1. Super excited to enter Lauren! I am brand new to Silhouette – not to crafting – but can’t wait to get started!

  2. I have been wanting one since I first seen it last year. I have been doing everything old school without the benefits of cutting machines or embossing machine manual or electric. Finally, decided that I want the Silhouette Portrait and will also buy a texture boutique for embossing as I love textures, as well. I want a Silhouette Portrait so much I even became a member of instagram and twitter to get more points. LOL!!! It would be such a wonderful birthday and Christmas gift to win this!

  3. An early Christmas to the winners of this fabulous giveaway! There are so many possibilities with the silhouette portrait, thank you for the chance to win one! ~ Carol W.
