Fall Cleaning Before & After Videos with RYOBI’s “Miracle Maker” Pressure Washer

One of the many “perks” to living in the most humid state in the union is that our backyard possesses magical powers to transform into a jungle almost overnight.  In fact, by the end of the rain-soaked summer, a thick layer of dirt, grime, and mold had grown onto our dock, pavers, and fence…blanketing everything in gray.  Well, that’s no way to start the fall!

We knew we needed a little more power than old-fashioned elbow grease could offer to clean things up…in fact, we needed a gas-powered Honda motor power.  Enter RYOBI’s 3100 PSI / 2.5 GPM Gas Pressure Washer.  (Or as we affectionately call her, “The Miracle Maker.”)

Mark was like a kid on Christmas morn when this lil powerhouse arrived on our front step.  And actually, as strong as she is, the box wasn’t as back-breaking as we expected.  We could carry it easily between the two of us…and he had it assembled in a matter of 5 minutes.  No exaggeration.

Ain’t she a thing of beauty?  And so easy to tote around the yard with its wheels, too.

Oh, and I have to share this anecdote:

I wish I had this moment captured on video for you to see, but I’ll do my very bestest to paint a word picture of what happened when Mark first experienced the pressure-washing power of “The Miracle Maker.”

I was inside, but spied him on the back deck holding out the washer gun to test it for the first time.  (He had no idea I was watching him.)  As he pulled the trigger and the water blasted out with great force, I watched him nod his head, scrunch his nose, and mouth the words: “Oh yeeeeeah.”

It’s that kind of machine!

Before, During, & After…in 3 Acts

I feel like the proof is really in the pudding, and so I want to share with you both photo and video evidence of this machine’s miracle-making powers.

To honor your time, I’ve edited each video down to the “before, during and after” highlights in just 15 seconds total, Instagram-style.  And look out for your favorite kitty photo-bomber and mine, Mangey, who makes appearances in some way shape or form in all 3 videos.

My favorite podcast, This American Life, must be on the brain because I have divided our fall cleaning into 3 Acts!  Let’s dive in now, shall we?

Act I: The Dock

Act III: The Fence

Pretty astounding, right?  I had no idea it could so dramatically clean off the grime in just one swipe!  That’s why I was determined to capture this on film for you.

In addition to these three fall cleaning projects, we’ve used our new pressure washer to clean the firepit as well as some of the siding on the house.

We have plans to use it to clean the grill, driveway, inside of the garage, and even our cars (on the 40 degree setting that won’t rip off paint).

Favorite Features

I asked Mark to articulate what his favorite features of the 3100 PSI Pressure Washer are.  And we have a list!

  • My #1 favorite feature is the 5-in-1 nozzle that can easily be changed from 40 degrees to 25 degrees to 0 degrees to soap fan to soap stream.  You got to see that in action in all three videos.

  • Second, I really love the onboard soap storage that turns on automatically when the soap settings are selected on the nozzle.

  • The idle-down is key because it saves a lot of gasoline and keeps things quieter as well.
  • The pull-string start is super-easy to use.  I honestly think the average 8-year-old could pull-start this thing!

First-Timer Tips

  • Everything is clearly marked; it’s pretty fool-proof when it comes to assembly.  Just check out the easy-to-follow manual that comes with it.

  • In terms of operating the pressure washer, once you learn the step by step starting procedure (which is conveniently printed and numbered right on the machine), there is nothing to it.  And it doesn’t take long at all to get the hang of it; definitely less than one hour.

  • What was clear to me from the start was how truly powerful this machine is.  And as we have all learned from Spiderman (and The Good Book), “With great power, comes great responsibility.”  So, safety first, people.  Treat the spray gun portion like a gun: don’t point it at another person, a pet, or your own foot.  Never look “down the barrel” because the high pressure water can actually cut your skin.  Always wear safety glasses and it’d be a good idea to wear long pants, a long-sleeve shirt, and closed-toe shoes.  You can also rock earplugs, although the idle-down feature really keeps it much quieter than you might expect.

To Close

When Mark first mentioned we needed a pressure washer to tackle our fall cleaning projects, I’ll admit, I was skeptical.  Another gizmo?  I wondered if it would really make a noticeable difference.

Well, within just a few seconds of seeing the 3100 PSI in action, my wonderings ceased.  And thus “The Miracle Maker” moniker was coined.

Goodbye gray.  Hello clean!

  1. An early comment in your post reminded me of the poem by Keats that starts, “A thing of beauty is a joy for ever.” I think you’ll be enjoying this RYOBI 3100 PSI Pressure Washer for many years to come. We saw the results ourselves just this past weekend and everything looked wonderful…just as shown. We could use it on our back patio!!

    Good job, Mark!

Loved the picture of Mangey, too!

    1. Wow, way to whip out the poetry references, Mom! Love it! And I wish we lived closer so Mark could come by and help clean that back patio. He would love any excuse to use the pressure washer!

  2. Oh wow, the fence video!! Wow. Paint is peeling off our house and I can pay someone thousands for the third time in 8 years to scrape and paint the house. Or I can do it myself and spend the $$ on a vacation instead. I can scrape the house, or maybe power spray the peeling paint off!! Do ya think?? I think I need this machine in my life!

  3. Lauren! Awesome!! This is an amazing difference … look forward to seeing in person tomorrow!!
And Mark ~ wow!! Great job & what a great tool!

    1. We were similarly impressed! It’s definitely Mark’s favorite new toy thanks to its endless cleaning powers! We’ll be busy with it for quite some time. Keep us out of trouble, lol! Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at the beach!

  4. You told me this product was amazing. I can’t get over the difference from before and after! I’ll bet you won’t have any trouble with the “Honey Do” list as long as Mark gets to play with the pressure washer to get it done…LOL We need one a Ryobi pressure washer too. Our pavers, dock and house get awful out here by the water. Awesome introduction to the product my friend!

    1. Isn’t it astounding?! Just when I thought RYOBI couldn’t earn any more clout in my mind…. Oh yes, Mark is definitely JUMPING at any chance he can get to use the pressure washer. He’s making his own Honey Do lists! Hope you get to play with one, too, friend. You’d love it – – even for cleaning the boat!

  5. As wonderful as this sounds, we here in California would not be able to use it because of the severe drought we are experiencing. We are forbidden to hose off anything.

    1. Makes perfect sense, Carol! And its a good reminder to us all to be mindful of conserving water wherever we can. (Mark is even trying to scheme up a way to rig up a hose to the lake water, so we can be more resourceful.) Hoping y’all get those heavy rains you need soon!

  6. I’m seriously in awe of the power of this machine! We need this for our fence, our house, and our front porch…oh and the driveway and walkway, too. (I’m sure there are other things we could find!)

Serioulsy, I’m glad you included the videos – definitely shows how awesome “The Miracle Maker” really is! I want..no I NEED one!

    1. It’s a force to be reckoned with, that’s for sure! And it sounds like you’d be able to find great use for it, Kirsten. Glad you enjoyed the videos – – I feel like they really do the best job at showing the Miracle Maker in action. Hope you can try it out soon, my friend! And share it on your blog, so we all can oooh and ahhh at more miracles!
