100 Projects to Usher in the Fall!
I don’t know about you, but we Floridians are sooooo ready for fall! Things have been roasty-toasty in these parts since early May, and while the thermometer doesn’t seem to be letting up, I figure I’ll do my part to usher in the fall indoors, hoping that maybe our outdoors will catch a hint!
Well, considering my enthusiasm about the new season, you can imagine how excited I was when Corey and Chelsea invited me to be a part of their 100 Fall Project Blog Hop.
How does it work? Well, myself and 24 other bloggers are all sharing four of our most inspirational fall projects with you all today and linking to the lot of them, so you are just a clickety-click away from all 100 {linked below}.
So, dear reader, you can stop scouring Pinterest because we’ve got the whole enchilada and a side of hot sauce right here fer ya! Are you ready?
4 Fall Projects from Yours Truly
It was tough to narrow down my fall projects from the last two years to THE FAB FOUR…but it had to be done. So, here you have it: the best of The Thinking Closet’s fall projects.
Project #1:
Felt Flower Fall Wreath
This was my first official fall project when we moved to Florida, and it continues to grace our front door each autumn: my Felt Flower Fall Wreath. The red and cream felt rosettes so easily transition from fall to winter, as well. (I love it when a wreath can do double-duty.)
Speaking of double-duty, you might recognize the style of the tightly wound felt rosettes from my Trendy Spring to Summer Wreath! This was the original, though, from fall 2012 when I desperately needed to Fall-i-fy Florida. This wreath worked wonders for my autumnal morale!
And incidentally, the felt rosettes also make great hair accessories:
Project #2:
“Happy Fall” Burlap Banner
My obsession with burlap is no secret around here. After surviving 8 hours of crafting a No-Sew Ruffle Christmas Tree Skirt, all other burlap crafts are a walk in the park…like my “Happy Fall” Burlap Banner from last year.
You’ll see from the Scotch tape in my banner that I have embraced “lime green” as my fall accent color of choice. I even went so far as to declare lime green as the new orange!
What’s your favorite accent color when it comes to fall, dear reader? {And it’s okay if you say “orange”! I’ll still love you.}
Project #3:
D.I.Y. Pumpkins
The burlap love-fest continues with these cutie-patootie Burlap & Book Page Pumpkins! I loved that I didn’t need to make another craft store run to buy supplies for this one; I had plenty of burlap on hand…not to mention twine and book pages.
Though don’t worry: I was sure to use a book with water damage and a broken binding. I don’t think I’d have the heart to destroy a book in good condition! Books have a special place in my heart. I have always been romanced by book stores and the treasures therein….
If the rustic burlap look isn’t quite your style, don’t you fret! I have some Glitter Glam Pumpkins that might better suit your taste.
Fun fact: these bad boys were made using supplies from the dollar store…including the Faux Mercury Glass D.I.Y. Pedestals. Booyah!
Project #4:
Hot Drinks Station
And nothing quite exudes fall like a Hot Drinks Station! Am I right?
Initially, we created our station in the guest room as a way to welcome guests. And it has been wonderful in that regard! However, Mark and I tap that station ourselves every. single. day. And as soon as fall hits, we double-tap, making coffee in the mornings and tea at night.
Because there’s just something about a cup of warm in your hands that warms the soul and takes the furrows out of brows.
And if you have a craving for some authentic Scandinavian mulling spices, then I have just the recipe for you! And if you click through to read the post, you’ll also hear the story of how my family came across this particular recipe.
Mulling spices will make your entire house smell like fall when brewing in some cider on the stove. And the sachets make great holiday gifts, too!
This is Only the Beginning…
So, now that you’ve seen the FAB FOUR of my fall projects (although did you notice, I was sneaky and snuck in a few extra?), it’s time to check out the rest!
Remember there are 100 total fall projects hitting blogland today, and you can access them by clicking the images below. So, grab your cup of cider, your cozy blanket, and usher in the new season as you soak up the inspirational D.I.Y. creations my blog friends have to share!
Here’s to new seasons! And here’s to fabulous fall! *clink*

Wow what a great fall round-up, found you via iheart naptime link-up and am loving all your projects especially the glam pumpkins and pedestals – I need to stop procrastinating and start decorating for fall although in Canada it usually means the beginning of a long cold winter… boo! Jealous of your florida weather.
Isn’t that funny, Kristen – – I’m jealous of your cooler weather! What I’d give to see some leaves changing color right now. 😉 Maybe we can plan a “Freaky Friday” and trade places for a day? Ha ha. Thanks for stopping by and for checking out the round-up!
You are really helping me make the transition from summer to fall/autumn! It was fun to reflect back on your favorite four fall projects.
I’ve pinned the entire post to be able to wander through many more fall projects soon and continue to be inspired.
“To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven!” Here’s to a new season of cooler weather (maybe not so much for you 🙁 but much cooler for us), mulling spiced cider drinks, autumnal wreathes, pumpkins, and banners! CHEERS!
Autumn has been my favourite season since I was able to have a favourite anything. We moved from New York to Florida when I was a kid, so the oranges and yellows of the beloved fall became the colours of blaring year-long sunshine. My autumn colours are the less sunny shades of plum, forest green, cranberry, copper, and chocolatey brown. I think I developed that palette to rebel against all that sunshine. hehe
(By the way, I have a sister named Autumn and I was always jealous of her name!)
Love the glam pumpkins; and you are so right about a hot drink to warm the soul! Mmmm… I can smell the spiced cider already 🙂
Yesssss girrrrrrrl those glitter glam pumpkins were one of my fav projects last fall! And of course the pedestals, because they inspired me to make some of my own <3
Loved being a part of this hop together. Have an excellent weekend, Lauren!
There’s so much good inspiration to be had here! I’m not a big orange-for-the-Fall person. I prefer neutrals, oh, and purple 😉

Fabulous and fun inspiration, Lauren!! Hugs to you, friend. p.s. Those mulling spices made me want to brew up a cup of fall goodness 🙂
totally on board for Fall aka Autumn. Through the years, we have noticed that nearly any time zone you might be in, October is the best.
I’m with you lady, totally, ready for fall! Loved your part of the DIY hop, super creative. I can’t wait to try the mulling spices recipe! Yum
I’m not big on the orange either, so I totally support lime green as the new Fall color (although I’m also rooting a bit for teal/turquoise). Love all your projects, Lauren!
Those gold glittery pumpkins are the cutest! Love your ideas Lauren – can’t wait to see this years!!
I looooove the hot bevvies station. What a fantastic idea! Although I know Fall as Autumn, these certainly apply! What a great series. Can’t wait to read more deeply into all of the above… Craft craft craft!
