NEW Weekly Email Launch & Giveaway!

Weekly Email Launch and Giveaway over at thinkingcloset.com. Giveaway ends 1.29.14. Open to internationals!

Don’t mind me while I squeal with excitement over the fact that I’m crossing an item off of my Blogging Dreams & Goals for 2014 list…and that is to offer up a weekly email option for my email subscribers!  Whoo hoo!  And to add to the joy, we’re celebrating today with a really fun giveaway, which I’m eager to share with you about, but first…

The Weekly Email Launch

So, why is this weekly email launch a big deal?

Well, because you asked for it!

Remember my first blogiversary survey from this past September?  Well, in one of my questions, I asked how frequently you all like to receive email updates from blogs…and the majority of you said “once a week,” with “once a day” coming in at a close second place.

The readers SPEAK! Blogiversary survey results about email updates.

So, of course, I had to get to work to make it happen.  And after tinkering around at all hours of the night in my MailChimp dashboard, and with a lotta help from a friend (thanks Jamie!), new email subscribers can now opt to receive new posts in their inbox…

  • once a day (or whenever new posts are published)
  • once a week
  • or both!  (just checkmark both boxes)

So for those of you who don’t want to miss a thing (especially exciting new promotions or giveaways), once a day might be the best option for you.  But for those of you whose inboxes are overflowing like a champagne bottle on New Year’s Eve, well, then the weekly option is poifect for you!  And if you’re my Mom…well…then, you can choose both!

What will the weekly email look like?

So, to give you a sense for what you can expect with the weekly emails, it’ll look somewhat like this.  On Fridays, you’ll receive an email with excerpts from each new post from that week (typically 2 – 3).  You can click through to fully read the ones that tickle your fancy!  Additionally, I’ll be adding in other tidbits like my favorite pins of the week or special deals I’ve seen around the web or occasionally a link to an entertaining YouTube video.  In fact, this was the secret plan I hinted at back in December when I put The Friday Five to rest: I’ll be inserting a lot of those inspirational links I used to share in that series into my weekly email update!  In the words of Nacho Libre:

Signs by Andrea

As a thank you to all my current email subscribers and all the new ones to come, I’m partnering with Andrea from Signs by Andrea to give away one of her gorgeous handcrafted wood signs to one lucky subscriber!

Okay, so if you haven’t already heard of Signs by Andrea, I’m going to strongly encourage you to visit her site.  Here is just a small sampling of some of the handiwork you’ll find there:

Signs by Andrea Giveaway! at thinkingcloset.com through 1.29.14. Open to internationals!

Andrea makes all of these signs herself using reclaimed wood and customizing them with your name, your special dates, your house numbers…you name it!  And what I love is that no two are the same.

My gushing about these signs comes from my own personal experience.  I had the opportunity to receive one of Andrea’s wooden signs this past fall, and since Mark’s birthday was coming up, I opted for the romantical Carved Heart & Initials Sign.  Andrea was even willing to customize the sign to match the colors we’re using in our Master Bedroom makeover: navy and white.  How cool is that?  (Here’s where you can submit requests for custom orders on her site.)

And when our fun-mail from Signs By Andrea arrived on the doorstep, I chuckled at the sticker slapped on the front.  I feel like intentional packaging says a lot about a business.

Here’s a photo of Mark on his birthday with his gifts – – including the special Carved Heart & Initials Sign.  I love that it’s such a sweet reminder of the year we got married.

We recently hung our sweet sign up on the new gallery wall in our bedroom.  And here’s where you get a sneak peek at our Master Bedroom Makeover I keep teasing about.  I promise the grand reveal is coming very soon.  And hopefully it will have been worth the wait!  {UPDATE: The Makeover is live!  Check out the entire series HERE.}

Custom Handmade Wood Sign by Signs by Andrea! A sweet reminder of our wedding anniversary.

Our carved heart and initials sign fits in perfectly with our new gallery wall! (This is just a sneak peek.)

The unfinished, rustic wood edges are my favorite part.  It just adds so much character to the piece!

Be sure to check out Signs by Andrea, not only for home decor, but also for your gift-giving!  I mean, the Carved Heart & Initials Sign couldn’t be more perfect for Valentine’s Day, am I right or am I right?

Annnnd as an added bonus, Andrea is offering all readers of The Thinking Closet a special discount of 15% off of your wood sign order through 2/3/14.  Woot woot!  Just use the code CLOSET at check out.  Thanks so much, Andrea!

  1. I signed up for the weekly and whenever-you-post-emails. It’s already been a few weeks and I am enjoying keeping up to date and also loving the weekly summary email, too! so much fun with a treat included. Signs by Andrea are so simple and lovely. What a great give-away!

Great accomplishment, even for the whole year!

  2. I LOVE the weekly newsletter!!!! I attempted to figure this out on Mailchimp on my own last year and failed miserably… then I figured I’d just wait until I had enough time (aka this summer when I’m not teaching) to dedicate my energy towards Mailchimp domination. Happy to see you have dominated!

    1. It’s definitely headache inducing at first, but now that it’s up and running, it’s easy breezy. Yeah, definitely wait until you have a whole evening (or two) to devote to it. You WILL dominate MailChimp, Thalita. Of that I have no doubt. (MailChimp, be forewarned….)

    1. Aw, thanks for the love and for subscribing, Marilyn! Is there an end to your kindness? I think not. Mwah!

  3. congrats Lauren on crossing off a blogging goal! that sign looks perfect in your room:-) it just gave me some inspiration for a tote i am working on:-) hope you are having a great weekend!

    1. Thanks, lovie! Yeah, I was super duper excited with how “US” that sign really felt, especially when we added it to our new gallery wall, which I am just itching to reveal. Hoping to photograph everything this weekend, so I can finally get to the grand reveal next week! Eep! (Oh, and so glad it gave you some inspiration for your tote. Can’t wait to see it!)

  4. Lauren, That is awesome that you are crossing something off your list. That sign is very sweet and I bet it goes great in your new master bedroom. Can’t wait to see what you have done with the place!

    Cheers!

  6. Congrats on your new email offering! Love your newsletter and I, love getting mine all the time. I do wish I didn’t have so much email every day but I don’t like missing things either. Like a chance to win this cute sign! Thanks for the chance!

  7. I am totally sticking with my daily emails! I need my fix to keep me ‘thinking’! – I am totally running with the ‘thinking’ puns from twitter earlier Lauren! hehe! It is a great idea though for people who only have time for blog catch ups at the weekends, I just schedule time in my day for it 🙂 I love your wall in your master bedroom too and am super excited for that reveal. It is just beautiful. Thank you also for having an alternative giveaway for us UK folks, its so nice that you thought of us overseas! Many a time I cannot enter a giveaway and its so exciting to be able to have a go! Thank you Lauren!

  8. Congrats on crossing off one of your blogging goals so quickly, Lauren! You obviously put a lot of work into it, and it shows. I hope you’ll forgive me for not subscribing – I just recently went on an inbox cleaning spree, sorting out subscriptions and newsletters, and I kinda wanna keep it at the level I have. Plus, you know, I stalk your blog religiously, so I don’t think I’ll ever reeeaaally miss anything (she said as she posted the first comment about 2 seconds after it was posted).
Buuut I will have to pick your brain sometime about how you get all these fabulous ladies to do giveaways with you! My 1 year anniversary will be in May (I can’t believe it!), and I’d love to do something fun.. we’ll see.
    Congrats again, friend!
    xx Johanna

    1. Oh girl, I completely understand the chaos that can be one’s email inbox. In fact, I spend most of my day trying to make sense of my own! Ha ha. So, no worries. I feel the love from you and your blog stalking on a regular basis, so clearly, you’ve got an awesome system that works. (Bloglovin’?)

And yes-yes-yes to brain-picking! We might even need to schedule a Google Hangout so we can gab it up pixelated face to pixelated face. (Now, wouldn’t THAT be something?) And yes, I’d love to help you brainstorm for your blogiversary. It’s definitely an event that needs celebrating!

      xo
