The Friday Five with The Thinking Closet & The Learner Observer

It’s time for me to send you over to The Learner Observer for 5 more inspirational links from Thalita: It’s Almost October.  Also, Thalita had the opportunity to attend Blog Podium last weekend, Canada’s Conference for Design and Lifestyle Bloggers…and she wrote all about it in her fabulous, down-to-earth way.  You can check that out here.

  1. Wow! So many gems in this post! First off, all of the gifs are leaving me beaming! (I’m convinced that nothing tops animal or kid gifs). And Mom and I watched the Bat Dad video and were laughing until we cried. Some of the best parts are the kids’ responding so naturally! I also really loved the happiness/gratitude video…”I’m in a lab coat.” 🙂 Those pumpkin rolls look yummy. And I have never heard of Erin Condren Planners, but they are incredible! Lovin’ your giveaways, girl! The planner takes me back to my middle school/high school days when I used to have the inspirational planners…but it’s like that times 10! It might convince me to move away from my google calendar…

  2. Ooo, such fun! I just received my 2nd annual EC life planner. Love it…I didn’t think my first one could ever get better, and somehow they managed to improve it again this year! I’m ordering one as a teacher gift too because she’s been eyeing mine! I saw blue mason jars somewhere this week (I think it was actually Tar-gee) and I was so tempted to buy them up and send them your way, but I wasn’t sure how well that shipping would go!

    1. S’s teacher is going to L-O-V-E it! Seriously, why didn’t I have parents like you when I was teaching in the classroom? An E.C. life planner would have seriously knocked me right out of my swivel chair! (You’re so thoughtful and generous, Jessica.)

Aw, and thanks for thinking of me with the blue mason jars! I’ve heard rumors that Tar-gee is carrying them now…time to make a Target run, I do believe!

  3. Three give-aways! Wow! They all look awesome! I loved the Bat Dad (his family just takes him for granted, poor guy), the list on a roll, and the happiness/gratefulness video! You have such a grateful heart that I’m sure you are very happy (at least most of the time!). I’ll have to check out Thalita’s Five. (I so want to write Talitha as that’s the name of one of our special LPNs at my hospital who retired on Friday!)
Call your Mama soon and be happy! 🙂

    1. Lol…yes, it looks like they do take him for granted. But I think that’s part of what’s so endearing about these videos. He’s just an ordinary guy viewing life through the lens of an extraordinary super-hero. And re: my grateful heart, I get it from you and Dad! No wonder we all get accused of smiling so much…we’re just grateful, and therefore, happy! Ha ha, and no worries if you slip one time and write, Talitha. Knowing Thalita, she’ll forgive you in a heartbeat! Let’s chat soon, Mama!

    1. Ha ha, yes, there is a LOT going on at once with these planners. Hey, maybe you could get an edge on the market with a simplified version for those with ADHD…or an affinity for minimalism! 😉

  4. My favorite quote (and one I try to live by) is “It is impossible to be grateful and unhappy at the same time. ” – Rosemary Clooney ( from “Girl Singer”)

    1. Nanci, that quote is absolutely beautiful. I love it. I also love that it was spoken by one of my favorite actresses! (White Christmas fan for life.)

    1. It really affected me, too, Sharon. I keep coming back to it…and it does make me want to reach out to my friends and past teachers to tell them how very thankful I am for having them in my life. There is so much merit to actually SPEAKING that gratitude…that was really made clear to me through the video.

Speaking of, I’m grateful for you, Sharon! Your comments always brighten my day and wish we lived closer so we could get crafty together IN PERSON. 🙂

  5. I have an Erin Condren Planner and I lovvvvve it:) They make great presents too! Her warehouse/office is right around the corner from where I live! Thanks for the awesome giveaway ladies!

    1. Oooo, really?! I’m getting really close to breaking down and buying one. I know they are pricy, but everyone who has one says it’s worth it…and after seeing the video and reading so many reviews, I believe it. Okay, it’s going on my Christmas wish list! And since you live so close to Erin Condren, maybe you could slip my Christmas wish list under her door…?! Lol. Just kidding…well, sorta! 😉

  6. The BLUE jars! ! !

I was at my local ACE store the other day and saw that they have the blue “vintage” mason jars.

    Guess what?

    I thought of you!

    1. Aw, Karen. That warms my heart to know I popped into your mind at ACE. So many people have been so kind in lamenting with me about my seller’s remorse…it definitely helps lessen the wound! Ha ha.

    1. I’m with ya, Rebecca. I do my monthly planning and calendar online, but daily lists and brainstorming is ALWAYS a pen and paper thing for me. I’m even particular about which pens I use: Pilot G-2 all the way, baby! 😉

    1. No worries, Ingrid! I’m so behind in my blog reading, it’s not even funny…but know that with you, there is no guilt or expectation for you to read every single one of my posts. Only when life permits! Of course, I always get giddy with glee to hear from you…and I’m glad to have you back! You are a gem, and I hope your weekend is full of bright moments to power you through. Hugs!

  7. Ahhh! I watched the “Science of Happiness” video on youTube last night!! I balled like a little girl. Time to call my mom! I love your Friday Five posts! So.Much.

    1. Isn’t it so fantastic?! And SUCH a tear-jerker?! The more I see it, the more I cry. And yes, we need to call our Moms!

Thanks for your enthusiasm over my Friday Five series. If you have any ideas for items I should include in future Friday Fives (videos, projects, quotes, etc.), send them my way, T.J!

    1. Of course, Karianne! How could I not?! They are absolute genius…and I will embrace any chance to show you off to my readers. Plain-n-simple.

Ha ha, and I’m glad you enjoyed our cheesy high-five shot! We had fun with that one…and had to get creative considering I’m in Florida and Thalita is all the way up in Canada!

      Happy weekend to you, friend.

    1. YAY! I’m hearing about Erin Condren everywhere lately, it seems. People love them, and I can see why. Will you tell me what you think once you get it? I’m seriously considering an investment myself.
