The Friday Five: Downton Arby’s & Blogiversary Giveaway Winners

Okay, so I definitely got teary-eyed reading the barrage of comments you all left me on my First Blogiversary post.  Y’all sure know how to make a girl feel loved!  And your responses were just further evidence that I’ve been blessed with the best community of readers a blogger could ask for.  (As if it were even in question.)

Blogiversary Survey

And the survey proved way more invaluable than I ever anticipated.  Thanks a heap to everyone who took the time to fill it out!  Things I learned that surprised me:

  • The majority of you find out about new posts through FB and email!  I was actually thinking of dissolving my daily email list or at least transferring it into a weekly email, but now that I know what I know…that is not happening.  But I will focus on improving that daily email, perhaps through some pictures like I added last week.  (Did you like that?)  And I have plans to provide an option for a weekly email for those who might prefer it…since about half of you said you do.
  • High up on the list for both posts you prefer and video tutorial suggestions were sewing projects!  This surprised me…and is a much-needed reminder to dust of my Brother and get back in the races again.
  • Y’all know me better than I know myself.  Seriously, reading the barrage of amazing eBook ideas, I was flooded with inspiration.  And kept thinking, “Genius!”  “Why didn’t I think of that?” and “By George, I think she’s got it!”  And some of your responses plain made me laugh out loud.  I really didn’t expect too many responses since I made the question “optional,” but it turns out, y’all are overachievers (am I surprised?), and you decided to give me enough eBook ideas to last me a lifetime!  (Did you know it’s my dream to publish a book someday?  I don’t care if it’s electronic or paperback, it’s on the bucket list, and your feedback moved me one step closer to my dream.  So, thank you.)

If you missed my First Blogiversary post, I plan on leaving the survey open for a few more weeks.  So, CLICK HERE to take the survey even though the giveaway is over because…well…your feedback means a lot to me.

  1. I got to share the Downton video with Mom tonight. We were cracking up, especially with Bates and our two villains! That house with the windows was also so refreshing…I feel like I was there! Amen to that last print. Also, can’t wait to read that book of yours someday! 🙂

  2. I’m getting to this late, but sadly the Downton Arby video had been shut down due to copyright issues or something. I really liked the house with all the glass windows on the front. The couple reminded me of Bruce and Patti S.! Something they would do!

I forgot to take your survey so I’ll go and do that now!

    1. Bummer! Will be on the lookout for another version of the video, so you can check it out. It’s pretty hilarious. And yes, I can totally see Bruce and Patti S. in that glass window house couple…in their love of nature and things handmade. Thanks for taking the survey! Your feedback means the world to me, Mama.

    1. That card catalog of yours deserves air-time! It’s uh-ma-zing. And you’re lucky we don’t live closer because I just might have to steal it from you. 😉 #onlyhalfjoking

    1. Camille, my French friend! I’m so excited for you! Thanks for your support of me and my blog, and do let me know how you like your prize!

  3. Lauren,
Really enjoyed those five for friday, the downtown Arby’s was a hoot and the glass fronted cabin was amazing. Those kids should really think about getting solar, we’ve got them and generate all the electricity we used and even sell the surplus back to the grid.
Thanks for sharing, really enjoy your blog.
    Diane

    1. Glad you enjoyed it, Dinky Di! Yes, isn’t that glass-fronted cabin just breathtaking?! I love that they dreamed it…and almost immediately DID it. Also, I love how resourceful you and your husband are with your green living! We hope to be able to do that someday when we have our own home. After all, we are in “sunny” Florida! Of course, I’ll be sure to consult you when the time comes. No use reinventing the wheel! 🙂

    1. Ha ha, if this is the first you’ve seen of Downton Abbey, then know that while the story-line and characters are “somewhat” similar, the setting is obviously very different. But it’s truly one of my favorite TV shows. I know BBC online airs it online for free after the season airs in Europe. Hopefully, it’ll be soon so you and I both can fetch it! (Love the word “fetch.” Resolving to use it more often.)

      1. Ah, I know, that it’s different! Was just remembered by this video, that I need to watch it! They showed the dubbed version of some episodes here last christmas or so… There will be a way to watch them somehow, either in English or German!
