I’m a Blog Angel! {Shhh…don’t tell.}
This fall, I kept hearing a buzz about this “blog angel” project by Rosie from Craftbotic. I read posts about bloggers helping other bloggers – – in secret – – for an entire month whether it be through commenting on their posts, amping up their traffic through social media, swapping sponsor buttons…you get the picture.
In past blog angel editions, each blog angel has also had a secret blog angel assigned to them…however, in keeping with the true Christmas spirit, Rosie tweaked things this time around. In the Ultimate Christmas Edition, blog angels nominate a blog they wanted to support instead of being assigned one and are to expect nothing in return. I thought this would be the perfect way to “earn my wings” as a blog angel, so to speak, as well as practice selflessness (which if we’re honest, doesn’t come naturally to any of us humans). As soon as the sign-up began, I joined the ranks of the December blog angels.
Who did I nominate? I know you’re curious as can be, but I can’t share that just yet! It needs to remain a secret until the end of the month, but I will tell you that she’s someone who has been a huge supporter to me as a beginner blogger and has a special place in my heart.
Without giving too much away, here are a few angelic gestures I’ve taken thus far:
- Commenting on all of her recent posts (and some of her older ones).
- Trying to be encouraging and uplifting in my comments.
- Following her through every means possible. Bloglovin’, Facebook, Pinterest….
- Sharing her posts through “Stumble Upon,” so others can discover her amazing blog.
- And a bit more…yet to be revealed.
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know my blogger better through this process, and I can’t wait to formally introduce her to you during the big reveal on December 30th…but I just had to let you in on the fun now that we’re at the halfway point.
If you’re a blogger and this project piques your interest, I highly recommend you join the blog angel bandwagon for the next cycle. Rosie will be posting sign-ups for the February edition on her blog on the 15th of January. Save the date!
Also, if you’d like to meet some of the other blog angels and learn about their experience thus far, check out our Halfway Helpathon Link Up over at Craftbotic. It’s just oozing with Christmas cheer.
Have a great rest of your weekend!
This is such a lovely idea – I bet you have been a fantastic blog angel – can;t wait to find out who you nominated xXx
Aw, thanks dear Hannah! I just shared my reveal post, so now you can find out!
What an awesome idea!!! I’ll have to participate.
Oh, yes! You’d be a great blog angel!
Hi Lauren, you have a new follower! Love your blog and welcome to the BA network! You should go and check out our ‘secret’ FB group.
Thanks, Lieke! And yes, I’ve been on the secret FB page…but want to utilize it even more in these last weeks! It’s such a great resource.
cool…never heard of this before today. the things I learn in this blogging adventure!!
I know! There’s quite a subculture to this blogging world, isn’t there? As far as I know, Rosie has only run blog angels for a few cycles, but I believe it has been quite successful.
Well, it’s a pretty neat idea, I think! 🙂
Very cool!
Thanks, Christina! You should seriously consider being a blog angel in the coming year. It’s really a gift to YOU as well as to the blogger you’re angeling (yes, I just made angel into a verb). 😉
Blog Angels is so much fun! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
My thoughts exactly, Marci!
I’ll definitely be back to check out your reveal post at the end of the month. This is such a great way to learn about new bloggers and give of yourself at the same time.
I’m with ya, Amy! I’m the best version of myself when I’m giving of myself!
Well said!
Here here!
Thank you for stopping by Planned in Pencil. Isn’t it fun, especially in the blog world to just try and be a good friend without expecting anything, a comment, a follow, anything in return!
It is a really good thing! I can tell we’re all really benefiting from it.
You have been really busy as a blog angel! I love how you chose a blog that has also helped you =)
I can only recommend taking part in Blog Angels! For me, it has been so much fun!
Anja, what a joy to read your post as well as those of the other blog angels. I’ll mention this in my “reveal” post, but connecting with other angels like yourself has been another sweet aspect of this experience. There are so many lovely women out there!
what a fun idea!
It has been fun! I feel that I’ve been so supported through the sweet comments of others (like yourself) that it’s fun to be able to focus my efforts on helping out another blogger. In turn, it really has helped my attitude and spilled over into my interactions with other bloggers.
