Sewing 101: Tucks
It has been over a month since I last tackled Raechel Myers’s Sewing 101 course…but it felt good to dust off the ole new machine and get back into the trenches today.
I never knew what the term “tuck” meant in the sewing world…until now. And I’m proud to say that I have conquered three different types! Spaced tucks, blind tucks, and pin tucks:
Apparently, tucks are well above Sewing 101 level, but once they’re mastered, they open up a whole new world of wonderful projects to tackle.
Here’s a round-up of 10 fun tuck projects…and all link to either a free pattern or tutorial. Which one’s your fave?
Can’t wait to try some of these in the future!
Tuck away, girl! I never thought about how important it was to learn how to tuck! I think I’ve used tucks in the past on some projects but kind of just did it when it came up in the pattern (and not very well). You are wise to master one skill at at time.
My favorites are the Pintuck Wave Pillow and restyled tuck t-shirt!!
Good luck as you tuck!!
Thanks, Mom! I’m looking forward to taking all of these different skills I’m working on and putting them into action with real projects soon.
Yes, the wave pillow would look great in the tenthouse, and the restyled tuck t-shirt is super cute! I have so many old tees in need of a makeover!
